1915 VFL Grand Final
The 1915 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Collingwood Football Club and Carlton Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 18 September 1915. It was the 18th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1915 VFL season. The match, attended by 39,343 spectators, was won by Carlton by a margin of 33 points, marking that club's fifth premiership victory and second in succession. Jimmy Morris (16 July 1891 – 30 May 1971) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Alexander Charles Mutch (31 March 1889 – 30 May 1960) was an Australian rules footballer and umpire who played with Collingwood in the VFL during the 1910s and early 1920s. He was also known as Alex Mutch. Norm Clark
Norman Childers "Hackenschmidt" Clark (12 November 1878 – 26 December 1943) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1905 and 1912. Family The son of Edward John Clark, and Margaret Clark, née Cooper, Norman Childers Clark was born on 12 November 1878. He married Eileen Florence Fleming (1888–1983) on 11 June 1918. They had two children: Norman Adrian Clark (1919–1998), and Bryan Childers Clark (1923–2003). Football Prior to joining Carlton, he had played in two premiership teams at North Adelaide. A talented sprinter, in 1899 he won the 130-yard Stawell Gift in eleven and four-fifths seconds, off a handicap of 14 and a half yards. Viv Valentine
Vivian Guy Valentine (3 December 1887 – 7 August 1967) was an Australian rules footballer and coach in the Victorian Football League (1897–1989), Victorian Football League. Valentine made his debut for the Carlton Football Club in Round 2 of the 1911 season. He retired from playing the game in 1918 and coached the Blues in the 1919 season. Harry Haughton
Henry Irwin Haughton (2 January 1886 – 19 January 1958) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1910s. A versatile player from Northcote, Haughton was already 26 when recruited by Carlton but still managed to play for eight seasons. He was a dual premiership player at Carlton, appearing in their winning 1914 and 1915 Grand Final teams. In the first Grand Final he was used on a half back flank but played in the ruck the following year. Haughton, a New Zealander by birth, was also a member of the side which lost the 1916 Grand Final. While at Carlton he represented the VFL at interstate football in 1913 and at the 1914 Sydney Carnival. Charlie Hammond
Charles William Hammond (19 March 1886 – 4 December 1936) was an Australian rules footballer who played with the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Hammond is notable as the only footballer in history to play in five Carlton premiership sides. Family The son of Thomas Hammond, and Ann Hammond, née Williams, Charles William Hammond was born at Collingwood, Victoria on 19 March 1886. One of his brothers, Jack Hammond (1884–1971), played VFL football for Carlton and Melbourne; and another, Billy Hammond (1887–1919), played VFL football for Collingwood. George William Athol Sharp (1 April 1894 – 19 April 1969) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Vin Gardiner
Vincent Sidley Gardiner (23 October 1885 – 3 October 1972) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Gardiner came from a footballing family, his father John had played for Carlton, and his brother Jack also played for Melbourne and Carlton. Gardiner began his career with Melbourne, but only played two games for the Redlegs in 1905. Gardiner then made his debut for the Carlton Football Club in round 3 of the 1907 season. In his second season, 1908, Gardiner was part of Carlton's premiership winning team. He was also the club's leading goalkicker that season. Gardiner went on to win Carlton's leading goalkicker award six more times and win another premiership, in 1915. He left the Blues at the end of the 1917 season. Gordon Vincent Green (28 February 1890 – 30 May 1973) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (1897–1989), Victorian Football League (VFL). Green made his debut for the Carlton Football Club in round 5 of the 1911 season. Charlie Fisher
Charlie "Spot" Fisher (17 November 1892 – 4 Mar 1983) was an Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Foortball Fisher played in three consecutive premierships for Muckatah in the Goulburn Valley Football Association in 1910, 1911 and 1912, before playing with Kyabram Football Club in the Goulburn Valley Football League (GVFL) in 1913 and 1914. Fisher made his debut for the Carlton Football Club in round 2 of the 1914 season. Fisher played with Kyabram in the GVFL on a Wednesday, then with Carlton in the VFL on a Saturday in 1914.
