1913 Georgia Bulldogs Football Team
The 1913 Georgia Bulldogs football team represented the Georgia Bulldogs of the University of Georgia during the 1913 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association football season. The Bulldogs completed the season with a 6–2 record. This team played Virginia for the first time since the tragic game of 1897 in which a Richard Von Albade Gammon died. Georgia also played its first game in Georgia Tech's new stadium (Grant Field), coming away with a victory. The 108–0 victory over Alabama Presbyterian in the first game of the season represents the largest margin of victory in Georgia football history. Senior captain Bob McWhorter became the first player to be selected as an All-American for the Bulldogs after the 1913 season. The Alabama–Georgia football rivalry is a college football rivalry game between the Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama and the Bulldogs of the University of Georgia. The Auburn–Georgia football rivalry is a college football rivalry game between the Auburn Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs. The two teams first played each other in 1892, and the rivalry has been renewed annually since 1944 for a total of 126 games as of 2021. Because it is the oldest rivalry still contested between teams in the Deep South, the series is referred to by both schools as the "Deep South's Oldest Rivalry" (although the first football game played in the Deep South was Wofford vs. Furman in 1889). Ponce De Leon Park
Ponce de Leon Park ( ; also known as Spiller Park or Spiller Field from 1924 to 1932, and "Poncey" to locals, was the primary home field for the minor league baseball team called the Atlanta Crackers for nearly six decades. The Crackers played here in the Southern Association (1907–1959) and the International League (1962–64). It was also home of the Atlanta Black Crackers who captured the second half championship of the Negro American League in 1938. The ballpark was located at 650 Ponce de Leon Avenue; the street ran along the south side of the park i.e. along its first base side. 1913 Auburn Tigers Football Team
The 1913 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University in the 1913 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association football season. The Tigers were retroactively recognized as a national champion by the Billingsley Report's alternative calculation which considers teams' margin of victory. The team was coached by Mike Donahue and was undefeated at 8–0, outscoring opponents 224–13. Auburn was the champion of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The team played just two games at home. Under Billingsley's primary methodology, Chicago was recognized as the national champion. Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field is the football stadium located at the corner of North Avenue at Techwood Drive on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. The Clemson–Georgia football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Clemson Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs.
