Clemson–Georgia Football Rivalry
The Clemson–Georgia football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Clemson Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs. It was for many years a spirited "border" rivalry between the two schools that are separated by a mere 70 miles. They met annually from 1897 to 1916, and again from 1962 to 1987 (aside from 1966 and 1972). The majority of meetings in over the first half century took place in Athens and Augusta, Georgia until 1967, not long after Clemson College expanded to University status, when the series shifted to become a more traditional, annual home-away series. Georgia leads the series 43–18–4, with 42 games played in Georgia, 22 games played in South Carolina, and one game played in North Carolina. Since 1987, the two schools have played intermittently. Clemson Tigers Football
The Clemson Tigers are the American football team at Clemson University. The Tigers compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). In recent years, the Tigers have been ranked among the most elite college football programs in the United States. Formed in 1896, the program has over 750 wins and three consensus national championships in the modern era. John Heisman
John William Heisman (October 23, 1869 – October 3, 1936) was a player and coach of American football, baseball, and basketball, as well as a sportswriter and actor. He served as the head football coach at Oberlin College, Buchtel College (now known as the University of Akron), Auburn University, Clemson University, Georgia Tech, the University of Pennsylvania, Washington & Jefferson College, and Rice University, compiling a career college football record of 186–70–18. Heisman was also the head basketball coach at Georgia Tech, tallying a mark of 9–14, and the head baseball coach at Buchtel, Clemson, and Georgia Tech, amassing a career college baseball record of 199–108–7. Tajh Boyd
Tajh Khiry Boyd (born September 25, 1990) is an American football coach and former quarterback who currently is an offensive assistant at Clemson. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Clemson, where he was the starting quarterback from 2011 to 2013. Early years Boyd attended Phoebus High School in Hampton, Virginia. As a starter on the football team, he was 43–2 winning two state championships in that tenure. Keith Marshall (American Football)
Warren Keith Marshall Jr. (born February 16, 1994) is a former American football running back. He played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs, and was selected by the Washington Redskins in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. High school career Marshall attended Millbrook High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he played football and competed in track. Marshall was 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds as a senior high school running back. Scout.com rated him a five-star prospect and the top-ranked running back in the class of 2012. Todd Gurley
Todd Jerome Gurley II (born August 3, 1994) is an American former football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons, primarily with the Los Angeles Rams. He played college football at Georgia, where he received first-team All- SEC honors, and was selected by the Rams 10th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. Gurley immediately made an impact in his first season by rushing for over 1,000 yards and winning Offensive Rookie of the Year. From 2017 to 2018, he twice led the league in rushing touchdowns and was named AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year in the former. ''College GameDay'' (branded as ''ESPN College GameDay built by Home Depot, The Home Depot'' for sponsorship reasons) is a pre-game show broadcast by ESPN as part of the network's ESPN College Football, coverage of college football, broadcast on Saturday mornings during the college football season, prior to the start of games with a 12:00 pm ET kickoff. In its current form, the program is typically broadcast from the campus of the team hosting a featured game being played that day and features news and analysis of the day's upcoming games. Donald Eugene "D. J." Shockley (born March 23, 1983) is a sports anchor and former American football quarterback. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft where he served as a backup quarterback for four and a half years, but never played in a regular season or postseason game. He played college football at the University of Georgia. Since 2017, he has worked as a color commentator and studio analyst for college football broadcasts on the ESPN network. David Norman Greene (born June 22, 1982) is a former American football quarterback. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Vince Dooley
Vincent Joseph Dooley (September 4, 1932 – October 28, 2022) was an American college football coach. He was the head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs from 1964 to 1988, as well as the University of Georgia's (UGA) athletic director from 1979 to 2004. During his 25-year head coaching career, Dooley compiled a 201–77–10 record. His teams won six Southeastern Conference titles and the 1980 national championship. The 1982 Orange Bowl was the 48th edition of the college football bowl game, played at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida, on Friday, January 1. The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game is an annual series of college football games played on the opening weekend of the NCAA Division I FBS season in Atlanta, Georgia.
