1913 Army Cadets Football Team
The 1913 Army Cadets football team represented the United States Military Academy in the 1913 college football season. In their first season under head coach Charles Dudley Daly, the Cadets compiled an 8–1 record, shut out five of their nine opponents, and outscored all opponents by a combined total of 253 to 57 – an average of 28.1 points scored and 6.3 points allowed. The Cadets' only loss was against Notre Dame by a 35 to 13 score. In the annual Army–Navy Game at the Polo Grounds in New York City, the Cadets End Louis A. Merrilat was a consensus first-team player on the All-America team. Tackle Alex Weyand was selected as a second-team All-American by Walter Camp and was later inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Charles Dudley Daly
Charles Dudley Daly (October 31, 1880 – February 12, 1959) was an American football player and coach, an author, and served in the United States Army during World War I. He played college football as a quarterback at Harvard University and the United States Military Academy and served as the head football coach at the latter from 1913 to 1916 and 1919 to 1922, compiling a career record of 58–13–3. Daly was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1951. Education Daly attended Boston Latin School. and Harvard University, where he was a member of ΑΔΦ, the Fly Club, the Hasty Pudding Club and editor of ''The Harvard Crimson'' for two years. Vernon Prichard
Major General Vernon Edwin "Prich" Prichard (January 25, 1892 − July 10, 1949) was an American football quarterback and United States Army officer. He played college football with Army and was selected as a first-team All-American in 1914. He became a career officer in the U.S. Army and rose to the rank of major general. He was lifelong friends with West Point classmate Dwight D. "Ike" Eisenhower. He served overseas during both World War I and World War II, and during the latter he commanded the 14th Armored Division in the United States from 1942 to 1944 and the 1st Armored Division from 1944 to 1945 during the Italian campaign.
