Roland Svensson
Roland Svensson (18January 191031July 2003), was a Swedish painter, writer, black and white artist, illustrator of books and originals for stamps. He is most noted for his depiction of the Stockholm archipelago. He also wrote several books. Biography Svensson sought out his motifs among the islets and skerries around the summer cottage and studio at Stora Tornö, across the Långvik strait on Möja in the Stockholm archipelago. He also wrote books describing the seasonal changes in the arcepelago with deep and vivid animation. His style was forceful and impressionistic but not without a strong feeling for decorative elements. He preferred to draw with coal. His views on Swedish nature and Swedish characteristics is close to that of Karl Nordström and Albert Engström. He became much noted through his color lithography's. Maria Ribbing
Augusta Maria Aurora Ribbing née de Vylder (1842–1910) was a Swedish schoolteacher and philanthropist. In addition to her contributions to teaching, she provided funding for social support, including Sweden's first old peoples home which opened in 1915. Biography Born in Stockholm on 8 June 1842, Ribbing was the daughter of the language teacher Louis De Vylder and his wife Maria Christina Ahlborg. When she was 17, she embarked on a teacher training course, the '' Lärokurs för fruntimmer'' in Stockholm. On graduating, she taught at the Normal School for girls until 1871 when she married the physician Seved Ribbing. After a year-long study trip around Europe, they settled in Simrishamn in southern Sweden but later moved to Lund. The couple welcomed people from all walks of life to their spacious home known as Spoletorp. Sigrid Sparre
Sigrid Sparre (''Sigrid Maria Josefina Ingeborg Richissa Eufemia Ulfhild''; 1 September 1825, in Nygård – 17 November 1910, in Stockholm) was a Swedish lady in waiting and noblewoman, known for her relationship with Charles XV of Sweden. Sigrid Sparre was the daughter of General-major Baron Sixten David Sparre and Sofia Amalia Eleonora Lewenhaupt, and the cousin of governor Knut Sparre. She was the ''hovfröken'' (maid of honor) of queen Josephine of Sweden in 1844–1850 and became known for her love affair with Crown Prince Charles. The queen gave her Catholic confessor, Jacob Lorentz Studach, the task to provide evidence of the affair by catching the couple together. This was achieved on Tullgarn Palace in 1850, after which Sparre lost her position and was forced to leave court, despite the protests of Charles. Fredrik Wilhelm von Otter (11 April 1833 – 9 March 1910) was a Swedish ''friherre'', naval officer and politician, most notably serving as Prime Minister of Sweden from 1900 to 1902. Life and work Otter was born on the Fimmersta estate (Töreboda Municipality) in Västergötland and belonged to the wealthy and aristocratic von Otter family. He entered the Royal Swedish Navy as second lieutenant at the age of 17, but remained without promotion for a long time. Meanwhile, he served in the British Royal Navy from 1857 to 1861, participating in campaigns against pirates in the South China Sea, and took part in one of Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld's North Pole expeditions in 1868, as commander of the expedition ship ''Sofia''. Johanna Gustafva Sundberg also known as ''Johanna Gillberg'' (20 January 1828 in Stockholm – 18 February 1910 in Stockholm) was a Swedish Ballerina and ballet teacher. She was a star of the Royal Swedish Ballet in the mid 19th-century. Life Johanna Sundberg was born in Stockholm. Torbjörn Caspersson
Torbjörn Oskar Caspersson (15 October 1910 – 7 December 1997) was a Swedish cytologist and geneticist. He was born in Motala and attended the University of Stockholm, where he studied medicine and biophysics. Contributions Caspersson made several key contributions to biology. * In the 1934 he and Einar Hammarsten showed that DNA was a polymer.
