1909 Clemson Tigers Football Team
The 1909 Clemson Tigers football team represented Clemson Agricultural College—now known as Clemson University—as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) during the 1909 college football season. Under Bob Williams, who returned for his second season as head coach after having helped the team in 1906, the Tigers compiled an overall record of 6–3 with a mark of 2–2 in SIAA play. C. M. The Clemson–Georgia Tech football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Clemson Tigers football team of Clemson University and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team of Georgia Tech. Both schools are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Since conference expansion in 2005, Clemson represents the Atlantic Division while Georgia Tech plays in the Coastal Division, and they are official cross-divisional rivals which play every year. Ponce de Leon Park ( ; also known as Spiller Park or Spiller Field from 1924 to 1932, and "Poncey" to locals, was the primary home field for the minor league baseball team called the Atlanta Crackers for nearly six decades. College Park Stadium
College Park is a stadium in Charleston, South Carolina. It was primarily used for baseball and was the home of Charleston RiverDogs. It is currently used by the Citadel Bulldogs baseball team for practice. The ballpark has a capacity of 4,000 people and opened in 1940. The grandstand is constructed of metal bleachers and is largely covered by a roof. The first few rows of seats between the dugouts are situated below ground level, giving fans the rare perspective seen from dugout level. The Clemson–Georgia football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Clemson Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs. It was for many years a spirited "border" rivalry between the two schools that are separated by a mere 70 miles. They met annually from 1897 to 1916, and again from 1962 to 1987 (aside from 1966 and 1972). The 1909 Georgia Bulldogs football team represented the Georgia Bulldogs of the University of Georgia during the 1909 college football season. The Bulldogs completed the season with a 1–4–2 record. The offensive production was quite low, with only 14 points being scored over the course of seven games. The only victory was over Tennessee. Georgia suffered its fifth straight loss to Georgia Tech and also lost to rivals Clemson and Auburn. In 1909, the team had an unusual situation with the first-ever co-head coaches at Georgia, James Coulter & Frank Dobson. 1909 was the only year either of them served as head coach at Georgia.
