1908–09 FC Basel Season
The FC Basel 1908–09 season was their sixteenth season since the club was formed. The club's chairman was Ernst-Alfred Thalmann, it was his seventh presidential term. FC Basel played their home games in the Landhof. Overview Daniel Hug, who had been team captain for many years, left the club and transferred to Genoa CFC as professional. Emil Hasler was the new team captain and as captain he led the team trainings and was responsible for the line-ups. Basel played 14 friendly games and 14 matches in the Swiss domestic league. Of the 14 friendly games that the team played, four were won and 10 ended in defeats. Nine games were played in Switzerland, six of which at home in the Landhof. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Ernst Amstein (born 22 July 1889) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel in the early 1900s as defender. Football career Amstein joined Basel's first team for their 1908–09 season from their reserve team. Fridolin Wenger (date of birth unknown; d.1931) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel. Between the years 1907 and 1914 Wenger played a total of 65 games for Basel. Albert Meyer (date of birth unknown) was a Swiss footballer who played as goalkeeper for FC Basel in the early 1900s. Meyer joined Basel's first team for their 1908–09 season. He played his first game with the team in the home game in the Landhof on 14 February 1909 as Basel were defeated 1–2 by La Chaux-de-Fonds. BSC Young Boys (YB by short abbreviation ) are a Swiss sports club based in Bern, Switzerland. Its first team has won 15 Swiss league championships and six Swiss Cups. BSC Old Boys
Basler Sportclub Old Boys, commonly known as BSC Old Boys, Old Boys Basel or simply Old Boys or when written just OB, is a Swiss sports club based in Basel. The club is mainly known for its football but it also has track, swimming and tennis sections. The association's colors are yellow and black. History In 1876 the gymnastics teacher at the then secondary school, Adolf Glaz, founded the RTV/Realschüler-Turnverein (secondary school student gymnastics club). Max Senn
Max Senn (born 11 February 1883 – 21 July 1933) was a Swiss watchmaker and football player. He played as striker. Private life Born in Basel, Max Senn was the son of the Basel watchmaker Emil Senn and his wife Frida née Bürgin. For professional reasons in 1901 he moved Hannover and worked for the firm Uhren-Stellmann as instructor for watchmakers for at least two years. After a lengthy, unspecified absence, he registered back in Basel on 3 August 1906. On 18 February 1909, he married Emma Louise Karolina Zehnder, born 24 September 1870. The couple had four children: Max Kurt, born 24 April 1910; Emil Alfred, born 15 December 1911, Jeanne Louise, born 20 November 1914; Yvonne, born 15 June 1916. Alfred Stöhrmann (1882 – 4 September 1914) was a German footballer who played as striker during the early 1900s. Football career Born in and grown up in Karlsruhe, Stöhrmann first played for local club Phönix Karlsruhe from 1904 to 1907. He joined FC Basel's first team during their 1906–07 season. Dr Siegfried Pfeiffer (19 October 188315 February 1959) was a Swiss international footballer. He played mainly as striker, but also as midfielder. Between the years 1899 und 1908 Pfeiffer played a total of 72 games for FC Basel scoring a total of 28 goals. He was also member of the FC Basel board of directors.
