The 18th Golden Melody Awards () ceremony for popular music category was held on June 16, 2007. The Azio TV broadcast the show live from the Taipei Arena in Taipei, Taiwan. Kenji Wu
Kenji Wu (; born 18 October 1979) is a Taiwanese singer, songwriter, actor and director. Early life Wu was born on 18 October 1979 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. When he was six, he moved to Argentina, but came back to Taiwan to compete in MTV Taiwan's "New Artist Fight Game". He attended the National Taiwan University of Arts majoring in theater. Career After competing in the "New Artist Fight Game" competition in 2000, he was subsequently signed to Virgin Music. Within half a year, Wu released his debut album ''Tomorrow, Alone'' (一個人的Tomorrow). Despite the involvement of top producers, the album received lukewarm response and weak sales. Wu Tsing-fong
Wu Qing-feng (; born 1982) , also known as Greeny and credited as Wu Tsing-fong, is a Taiwanese singer-song writer, composer, arranger, and lyricist. Born in Taipei, he is a founding member and the lead vocalist of Oaeen (Sodagreen) and is the major composer and lyricist of the band. Aside from producing the music for the band, he also writes songs for numerous Mandarin singers. Suming Rupi (born 17 July 1978) is a Taiwanese Indigenous musician, singer, songwriter and actor. He is a member of the "Lacienci" (拉千禧) age set (a form of social organization that is characteristic of 'Amis) of 'Atolan. Life and career Suming Rupi is a member of the 'Atolan community of the Amis (also known as "Pangcah") people, who live in Taitung and Hualien Counties. Rupi is his grandmother's given name. He often only goes by his given name "Suming". He is also known as Chiang Sheng-min, his Chinese name. He sees tradition as fashionable and stylish, and often appears in traditional 'Atolan 'Amis regalia on stage. Suming began his music career with the band Totem (圖騰樂團) in 2002. New Formosa Band
New Formosa Band () is a Taiwanese pop music ensemble. Its members include Bobby Chen and Ayugo Huang. The group was established in 1992 and are important musicians in the genres of Hakka and New Taiwanese Song. Jody Chiang or Jiang Hui (), born Jiang Shuhui (), is a Taiwanese popular singer. She began recording in the 1980s and retired in 2015, having released 60 albums. Her trademark ballads and folk songs are typically sung in Taiwanese. Her role in Taiwan's popular music scene is often compared to that of Teresa Teng. She is the older sister of Chiang Shu-na. Early career Chiang's mother was a food vendor and her father a glove puppeteer. MCHotDog (; born April 10, 1978) is a Taiwanese rap artist known for his use of explicit lyrics in his songs. In 2001, his four mini-CDs sold over 220,000 copies. In 2004, he toured with Chang Chen-yue in the North American Kill Kitty tour. Sodagreen
Sodagreen (; stylized as sodagreen) is a Taiwanese indie band formed in 2001. Its members have been unchanged since 2003. Sodagreen emerged in the Taiwanese indie music scene after receiving the Grand Jury Award in the Hohaiyan Gongliau Rock Festival in 2004, after which it signed a contract with Willlin Music. The band is the first indie band to hold a concert in the Taipei Arena. History Sodagreen was named by Shih, the band's leader at the time, and Wu, the lead vocalist. The band was originally named Soda (蘇打), but Shih preferred a name with three-syllable. Wu then affixed the word ''green'' (綠), his favourite colour, behind Soda, completing the portmanteau.
