Eighteen Visions is an American metalcore band from Orange County, California, formed in October 1995. The band broke up in April 2007, less than a year after their major label debut was released through Epic and Trustkill Records. After over a decade of absence, the band reformed in 2017. They announced their sixth album, '' XVIII'', would be released via their new label home at Rise Records. History Beginnings (1995–2000) Eighteen Visions was founded in October 1995 by James Hart, Dave Peters, Billy Sisler, and Kenneth Floyd under the name "Macabre". The band wrote a bit of material and started to play shows, beginning at the "Koo's Cafe" in early 1996, in their local area. Soon after, Excessive Force's Jeff Boullt was added to the mix as a second guitarist, and in March, Sisler left the group and was replaced by Richie Taylor. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Death growls and gang vocals are common. 1990s metalcore bands were inspired by hardcore while later metalcore bands were inspired by melodic death metal bands like At the Gates and In Flames. Clear (hardcore Band)
Clear (stylized as xClearx) was a straight edge metalcore group from Utah in the mid-late 1990s, known for its sound similar to Culture and Morning Again. The band broke up in 2000. Mick Morris went on to Eighteen Visions, and other members Jason Knott, Levi Lebo, and Josh Asher to The Kill. Levi and Mick previously also played in Decontaminate. Sean and Tyler went on to form Hammergun. xclearx played one reunion show on February 16, 2007. In 2013 Mick Morris died prompting Clear to do a memorial show for his son. Clear played a benefit show a couple years later. Currently 2017 Jason Knott is a singer/guitarist for Motherkilljoy, Levi Lebo plays guitar for Exes, Tyler Smith drums for Eagle Twin. boysetsfire is an American post-hardcore band from Newark, Delaware. Formed in October 1994, boysetsfire is composed of guitarists Chad Istvan and Josh Latshaw, vocalist Nathan Gray, and bassists Chris Rakus and Robert Ehrenbrand. Lyrical themes express political views. Biography Boysetsfire released their first demo albums in late 1994 and early 1995. In 1996 the band released their first EP, ''This Crying, This Screaming, My Voice Is Being Born''. In 1997, they signed a contract with Initial Records, and recorded their first album, ''The Day the Sun Went Out''. Shai Hulud is an American metalcore band formed in Pompano Beach, Florida, in 1995, and later based in Poughkeepsie, New York. The band is named after the giant sandworms in Frank Herbert's novel ''Dune''. The two mainstay members of Shai Hulud are considered to be Matt Fox (guitar), who writes most of the band's musical and lyrical output, and Matt Fletcher (originally guitar, now bass), who assists in writing. Poison the Well is an American metalcore band from Miami, Florida who were last signed to Ferret Music. In 2010, they announced a hiatus to explore other interests. ''Until The Ink Runs Out'' is the second full-length album released by metalcore band Eighteen Visions. It is often considered to be the bands' finest release by much of the older fans, as well as the record that gathered national attention for the band, due to the rising of Trustkill Records. The album was recorded in a four-day session at Doubletime Studios, where they had previously recorded twice (once for a demo sometime in 1999, and once for the No Time for Love session) for a budget of just over one grand. This was the band's first release to feature Keith Barney on guitar, and would ultimately be the last to feature Javier van Huss on bass. Good Life Recordings 12" vinyl came out first. The vinyl had the words "Hair Dressers of the World" on side A and "Unite!" on side B on the matrix runout. It was limited to a pressing of 1000 on black and 200 on pink.
