Federico Errázuriz Echaurren
Federico Errázuriz Echaurren (Santiago, November 16, 1850 – Valparaíso, July 12, 1901) was a Chilean politician who served as the 12th President of Chile. Early life He was son of the president Federico Errázuriz Zañartu and of Eulogia Echaurren García-Huidobro. He studied at ''San Ignacio School'' of Santiago de Chile and in the ''National Institute of Santiago'' , where he received a bachelor's degree. He was joined the University of Chile where he became a lawyer on March 23, 1873. In 1875 he married Gertrudis Echeñique Mujica, a direct descendant of the governor of Chile Martín de Mujica, of whom she was the last heir of the El Huique; They had six children: Juan José, Elena, Federico, Eulogia, Jorge and María Jesús. Vicente Reyes (politician)
Pedro Vicente Reyes Palazuelos (b. 1835 - July 6, 1918), was a Chilean lawyer, journalist, political figure, and candidate during the 1896 presidential election. Vicente Reyes was born in Santiago, the son of Manuel Reyes Saravia and of Mercedes Palazuelos Astaburiaga. He completed his studies in the Instituto Nacional and at the Universidad de Chile, where he graduated as a lawyer in 1858 with a thesis about the copyright of literary works. By 1856 he was already well known in the literary circles of the time and as a journalist of the ''El Ferrocarril'' newspaper and the ''La Semana'' magazine. In 1857 he joined the civil service as section chief at the Ministry of the Interior and later at the Ministry of Public Instruction, where he remained until 1861, when he was elected as alternate deputy for Ovalle for the period 1861–1864. He also became a professor at the School of Law of the Universidad de Chile and was one of the original members of the Chilean Academy of Language. ...

Gold Standard
A gold standard is a monetary system in which the standard economic unit of account is based on a fixed quantity of gold. The gold standard was the basis for the international monetary system from the 1870s to the early 1920s, and from the late 1920s to 1932 as well as from 1944 until 1971 when the United States unilaterally terminated convertibility of the US dollar to gold, effectively ending the Bretton Woods system. Coalition (Chile)
The Coalition ( es, Coalición), also but rarely known as Conservative Coalition, was a Chilean coalition formed in 1891 after the 1891 Chilean Civil War and it was the main opposer of the Liberal Alliance. The Coalition was formed by the Conservative Party, democrats, nationals and different liberal organizations. Along with the Liberal Alliance, it was one of the two parties of the bipartidist system of that time. Between 1920 and 1925 it took as name National Union and during that period it was formed by the Conservative Party, the unionist liberals, the nationals and the liberal democrats. Liberal Alliance (Chile)
After the 1891 Chilean Civil War and the dissolution of the coalition between conservatives, radicals and antibalmacedist liberals the Radical Party, the Democrat Party and several liberal organizations formed the Liberal Alliance ( es, Alianza Liberal). It was the main opposer of the Coalition. Along with the Coalition, it was one of the two parties of the bipartidist system of that period, the era of the Chilean parliamentary republic. The Alliance would later be called the Liberal Union, during a period in which it was a union of the radicals, the democrats and all liberal groups ( liberals, liberal democrats, nationals and the doctrinary liberals) .
