The 1895 ICA Track Cycling World Championships were the World Championship for track cycling. They took place in Cologne, Germany from 17 to 19 August 1895. Jaap Eden
Jacobus Johannes "Jaap" Eden (; 19 October 1873 – 2 February 1925) was a Dutch athlete. He is the only male athlete to win world championships in both speed skating and bicycle racing. Early life Jaap Eden was born in Groningen to Johannes Eden and Maria Baale. Eden's mother died of complications from his birth. His father, a gymnastics teacher, could not take care of the baby alone and sent him to his grandparents, who owned a hotel near Santpoort. As a boy, Eden enjoyed running in dunes near his grandparents' home, gymnastics and, in the winter, skating. His speed and skating technique were noticed by the best Dutch skater at the time, Klaas Pander, and he invited the 15-year-old Eden to join him training. Wilhelm Henie
Wilhelm Henie (7 September 1872 – 10 May 1937) was a Norwegian sportsman and furrier. He was track cycling World Champion in 1894, and competed at the European Speed Skating Championships in 1896. Henie was coach and manager for his daughter Sonja, who became a famous figure skater and later film actress. Cycling Henie was an active track cyclist from 1889 to 1902. He represented the club ''Kristiania Velocipedklub''. When he became World Champion in 1894, he was also the first Norwegian World Champion in any sport. Early efforts Henie started in his first race in June 1889, on the Majorstuen velodrome, and surprised by winning his class. In August 1889 he won the 2000 metre race on the Bygdø velodrome. Mathieu Cordang
Mathieu Cordang (6 December 1869 – 24 March 1942) was a Dutch professional cyclist. His specialties were track racing and endurance racing. Biography Cordang started racing in 1893, after he left a boat in Vlissingen where a cycling race was being held. He borrowed a bicycle, won the race, and decided to take up cycle-racing. In 1894, he set a world record for the mile on a tandem, and finished second in the Dutch national road race championships behind Jaap Eden. One year later, he raced a train between Maastricht and Roermond and won. Cordang won the amateur 100 km motor-paced world championship in 1895 in Köln. Cordang was a professional from 1896 to 1900. In 1897 he finished second in Paris–Roubaix after falling in the velodrome in Roubaix. The winner, Maurice Garin, did not wait for him and won by 30meters.
