1890 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 1890 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the fourth staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 18 February 1890. The championship began on 9 March 1890 and ended on 13 July 1890. Blackrock were the defending champions. On 13 July 1890, Aghabullogue won the championship following a 7-3 to 1-1 defeat of Aghada in the final. This remains their only championship title. Aghabullogue GAA
Aghabullogue GAA are a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Cork, Ireland. They are affiliated to the Cork County Board and play in the mid-Cork (Muskerry) division of Cork GAA. Aghabullogue cater for both hurling and Gaelic football. History Aghabullogue have a long tradition of hurling. In 1890, they won the Cork Senior Hurling Championship. By the rules of the GAA at that time, this victory allowed Aghabullogue to go on and represent Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. They later collected a Munster title following a victory over Kerry. There was controversy in the subsequent All-Ireland final when an Aghabullogue men left the field after one of the players had his toe broken by a Wexford man's hurley. At a meeting the following week of the Gaelic Athletic Association's Central Council it was agreed to award Cork the All-Ireland title. Dan Lane
Daniel Lane (1861 - 3 June 1940) was an Irish people, Irish hurling, hurler who played as a forward for the Cork GAA, Cork senior team. Born in Coachford, County Cork, Lane first played competitive hurling in his youth, prior to the establishment of the Gaelic Athletic Association. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-nine when his club team represented Cork. In his sole season with Cork, Lane won one All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medal and one Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster medal. He was Cork's first ever winning Munster and All-Ireland winning captain. At club level Lane was a one-time Cork Senior Hurling Championship, championship medallist with Aghabullogue GAA, Aghabulloge. Blackrock National Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located on the southside of Cork City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1883 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. No other Cork-based GAA club has won more Senior County Hurling titles or All-Ireland Club Championships. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).
