Edvin Alten
Edvin Alten (1876 – 1967) was a Norwegian judge. He was born in Tønsberg. He worked as deputy under-secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice and the Police from 1918, and as a Supreme Court Justice from 1925 to 1948. He was married to Ragna Aass (1880–1975). Olav Duun
Olav Duun (21 November 1876 – 13 September 1939) was a noteworthy author of Norwegian fiction. He is generally recognized to be one of the more outstanding writers in Norwegian literature. He once lacked only one vote to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, and was nominated twenty-four times, in fourteen years. Early life Duun was born in the traditional district Ytre Namdal, on Jøa an island in the Namsen Fjord in Fosnes municipality, Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. His parents were Johannes Antonius Duun and Ellen (Fossum) Duun. Olav Duun was born Ole Johannesen Raaby. Duun was the oldest in a family of eight siblings. During his years as a boy his family lived at several farms on the island, the last one being Duun. He adopted the last name Duun when he left the island to start his training as a teacher. Oluf Christian Müller
Oluf Christian Müller (19 October 1876 – 7 January 1938) was a Norwegian businessperson and politician for the Liberal Left Party. He was born in Sunndalen as a son of vicar Christian Høy Müller (1834–1882) and Mathea Herlofine Herlofsen (1847–1905). He attended middle school in Kristiansund, and stayed briefly in Kristiania, Germany and England. He started working in the company of his maternal grandfather in 1896, before taking over as manager at ''Goma Smørfabrik'' in 1900. Having expanded in 1934 to produce soap as well (''Goma Margarin- og Saapefabrik''), he remained manager until his death. He was a member of Kristiansund city council from 1910 to 1913, 1919 to 1925, 1928 to 1931 and 1934 to 1937. He was elected to the Parliament of Norway in 1918 from the urban constituency Kristiansund, and was re-elected in 1921 from the Market towns of Møre og Romsdal county. Erik Colban
Erik Andreas Colban (18 October 1876 – 28 March 1956) was a Norwegian diplomat. Colban had many important roles in Norwegian diplomacy; especially being named to the post of Norwegian Ambassador in London before and during the Second World War. Colban also worked with the League of Nations and the United Nations where Norwegian Trygve Lie served as the Secretary-General of the United Nations. Jacob Thorkelson (September 24, 1876 – November 20, 1945) was a Norwegian American politician from the state of Montana who served as the United States Congressman from Montana's 1st congressional district from January 3, 1939 to January 3, 1941. Biography Thorkelson was born in Egersund, a coastal town in the county of Rogaland, Norway. Thorkelson immigrated to the United States in 1892; he studied nautical navigation, and later worked as navigator and sailing master on ocean-going ships. He graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 1911, and served as a member of the faculty from 1911 until 1913. In 1913, Thorkelson moved to Montana. He practiced medicine while residing successively in Dillon, Warm Springs, and Butte. Military service Thorkelson served with the Virginia Naval Reserve, a militia organization, from 1897 to 1899.
