Skagen Painters
The Skagen Painters ( da, Skagensmalerne) were a group of Scandinavian artists who gathered in the village of Skagen, the northernmost part of Denmark, from the late 1870s until the turn of the century. Skagen was a summer destination whose scenic nature, local milieu and social community attracted northern artists to paint ''en plein air'', emulating the French Impressionists—though members of the Skagen colony were also influenced by Realist movements such as the Barbizon school. They broke away from the rather rigid traditions of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, espousing the latest trends that they had learned in Paris. Among the group were Anna and Michael Ancher, Peder Severin Krøyer, Holger Drachmann, Karl Madsen, Laurits Tuxen, Marie Krøyer, Carl Locher, Viggo Johansen and Thorvald Niss from Denmark, Oscar Björck and Johan Krouthén from Sweden, and Christian Krohg and Eilif Peterssen from Norway. The men's team competition in the Swedish system was an artistic gymnastics event held as part of the Gymnastics at the 1912 Summer Olympics Four gymnastics events for men were contested at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden. No women's competitions were held, though women did participate in non-competitive gymnastic displays. Including the displays, the events were held be ... programme. The Denmark men's national football team ( da, Danmarks herre-fodboldlandshold or ''herrelandsholdet'') represents Denmark in men's international football competitions. It is controlled by the Danish Football Association (DBU), the governing body for the football clubs which are organised under DBU. Denmark's home stadium is Parken Stadium in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen; their head coach is Kasper Hjulmand. Denmark were the winners of the Football at the 1906 Intercalated Games and silver medalists at the 1908 and 1912 Olympics. However, as amateurs who prohibited their internationals from becoming professionals at foreign clubs, Denmark did not qualify for the FIFA World Cup until 1986, although they won another Olympic silver in 1960. Axel Andersen Byrval
Axel Andreas Jacob Andersen Byrval (13 March 1875 – 1957) was a Danish amateur football player and manager. He played for Boldklubben Frem, where he was also a cricketer. Byrval was the manager of the Danish national football team for 16 matches in the years 1913–1915 and 1917–1918. Biography Born in Copenhagen, Byrval started playing football with Boldklubben Frem. In 1895, several players left Frem, and Byrval and Peter Mikkelsen went on to play for B 93. They returned to Frem in 1897, and were the first two players to represent Frem at an international level, when they were a part of the first Danish national selection, composed solely of players from the Copenhagen clubs. He participated in at least one international game for the Danish selection, against a German team in Hamburg. The match was won 5–0 by the Danish team and had 5,000 spectators.
