Johannes Hanssen
Johannes Hanssen (2 December 1874 in Ullensaker – 25 November 1967 in Oslo) was a Norwegian bandmaster, composer and teacher. He was bandmaster of the Oslo Military Band from 1926 to 1934 and again from 1945 to 1946. Hanssen received the King's Order of Merit in Gold and King Haakon VII's Jubilee Medal. His most famous composition is his ''Valdresmarsjen'' (Valdres March, 1904), a march celebrating the beautiful Valdres region in Norway that lies between Oslo and Bergen. The main theme is the signature fanfare for the Valdres Battalion, which is based on an ancient melody formerly played on the medieval ''lur'', an uncoiled wooden wind instrument. The melody of the trio section derives from a fiddle tune traditional in Hardanger and a pentatonic folk tune, above a typical Norwegian drone bass line. Thomas Tellefsen
Thomas Dyke Acland Tellefsen (26 November 1823 – 6 October 1874) was a Norwegians, Norwegian pianist, composer, and Piano pedagogy, teacher. As a composer, Tellefsen wrote 44 opuses, including solo piano works, two Piano concerto, piano concertos, and chamber music. He dedicated many of his compositions to the Polish people, Polish, Russians, Russian, and French people, French Aristocracy (class), aristocracy. Life Tellefsen, the youngest of six siblings, was born in Trondheim, Norway, where he studied with his father Johan Christian Tellefsen (1774–1857)—the organist at Trondheim cathedral, Trondheim Cathedral—and with Ole Andreas Lindeman. Thomas gave his first public concert in his home town in the spring of 1842, age 18. Until he was 19, he had studied to be a priest; instead, he turned to music, and moved to Paris to seek tutelage under Frédéric Chopin. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. Christian Schou
Christian Schou (13 December 1792 – 15 September 1874) was a Norwegian merchant, brewer and politician. Biography He was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of Didrik Hansen Schou (1744–1795) and Anna Ludovica Wittrog. His father died when he was quite young and he was raised by a relative. Schou established trading license at Christiania in 1822 and ran a farmer's shop at Grønland. He also operated a vinegar distillery and liquor store. In 1834, he acquired the Vestre Sinsen farm and ran a dairy. In 1837 he bought Jørgen Young's brewery in Fjerdingen, which he converted to Schou Brewery. Schou owned property along the Akerselva and utilized areas closest to the river for expansion of the brewery. Schou became a member of the first presidency of Christiania in 1837. Hans Jørgen Darre
Hans Jørgen Darre (27 September 1803 – 11 March 1874) was a Norwegian clergyman and Bishop of Nidaros. Darre was born at Klæbu in Søndre Trondhjem, Norway. He was the son of the vicar in Klæbo and constitutional founding father, Jacob Hersleb Darre. He graduated as cand.theol. in 1827 and succeeded his father as vicar in Klæbu in 1833. He was the dean in the district of Dalerne from 1843 to 1848, and in March 1849 he took over as Bishop of the Diocese of Trondhjem (Nidaros). He retired in 1860 with a 1000 speciedaler pension. In 1872, he moved to a town near the Spanish-Portuguese border, where his daughter's husband worked in a mine. Hans Jørgen Darre died in Miraflores, Spain during 1874, his body brought back to Norway in December 1883. In Throndhjem, he was a member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters. Dominicus Nagell Lemvig Brun (1 November 1790 – 20 February 1874) was a Norwegian military officer and politician. He was born in Aafjorden to Ole Brun and his wife Catharina Hedevig Thombsen. He married Christine Lund Finckenhagen in 1816. He was a military officer by profession. He was also elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1845, 1848 and 1851, representing the constituency of ''Romsdals Amt''. Knut Olai Thornæs
Knut Olai Thornæs (30 May 1874 – 1945) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and politician. He was a member of the Labour Party from 1900, and represented the party politically, but joined the Communist Party upon the split in 1923. Thornæs was the editor-in-chief of several newspapers, most notably ''Ny Tid''. Career Thornæs hailed from Kristiansund. Having first worked a few years as a manual laborer, in 1893 he completed his typographer's education, and moved to Trondhjem. He became involved in his local trade union, and in 1900 he joined the Norwegian Labour Party. Thornæs published the temperance periodical ''Reform'' in 1901, but was soon hired as a journalist in ''Folketidende''. In 1902, he was hired in the local Labour Party organ, ''Ny Tid''. He worked here for many years, except for the period between 1906 and 1908, when he edited a Fredrikstad newspaper, '' Smaalenenes Social-Demokrat''.
