The list of Norwegian monarchs ( no, kongerekken or ''kongerekka'') begins in 872: the traditional dating of the Battle of Hafrsfjord, after which victorious King Harald Fairhair merged several petty kingdoms into that of his father. Named after the homonymous geographical region, Harald's realm was later to be known as the Kingdom of Norway. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957. His paper ''Omkring Bǫglungasǫgur'', on the Bagler sagas, was printed in 1959. In December 1957 he married Karen Blauuw, who would later become a professor. Gabriel Kielland
Gabriel Kielland (6 July 1871 – 28 September 1960) was a Norwegian painter, architect and designer. Gabriel Kielland was born in Trondheim, Norway. Kielland is one of the many notable alumni of the Trondheim Katedralskole. Kielland later studied to become an architect in Hanover and then went to Munich in 1892 to study painting. He was a pupil in Weimar during 1894 and later studied with Alfred Philippe Roll in Paris. From 1896 he worked for a time as an architect in Trondheim, in a rigorous and constructive art nouveau style, but also painted landscapes, portraits and several altarpieces. As an architect he designed, among other things, Trondheim electricity primary station at Øvre Leirfoss, Finnes orphanage and Dr. Cureas clinic in Trondheim. He later became a teacher of freehand drawing at Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim 1899–1902. Agnar Johannes Barth
Agnar Johannes Barth (26 August 1871 – 4 May 1948) was a Norwegian forester. He was born in Lillehammer as the son of Jacob Bøckmann Barth. Carl G. Barth was his brother. Described as his "country's leading authority on forestry for many years", he was a professor at the Norwegian College of Agriculture from 1921, and served as rector (roughly, the president) there from 1928 to 1933. Barth was a reserve officer in the Norwegian Army, attaining the rank of Second Lieutenant in 1891. Vilhelm Krag
Vilhelm Krag (24 December 1871 – 10 July 1933) was a Norwegian poet, author, journalist and cultural personality. Known for coining the term Sørlandet to describe a region of Norway, he was the son of Peter Rasmus Krag and younger brother of the novelist Thomas Krag. His first volume of poetry, which came out in 1891, included many of his best-known poems: "Fandango", "Der skreg en fugl" (A bird cried), "Liden Kirsten" (Little Kirsten), "Majnat" (May night), "Mens jeg venter" (While I'm waiting), "Moderen synger" (The mother sings) and "Og jeg vil ha mig en hjertenskjær" (And I will have me a sweetheart). Edvard Grieg set Krag's lyrics to music in his Opus 60, published in 1894. Hans Clarin Hovind Mustad
Hans Clarin Hovind Mustad (22 November 1871 – 1 January 1948) was a Norwegian businessman. Personal life He was born in Vardal as the son of Hans Mustad and Clara Laurentse Marie Henriette Mustad (born Hovind). On the maternal side he was a great-grandson of Hieronymus Heyerdahl, and on the paternal side he was a grandson of Ole Hovelsen Mustad, great-grandson of Hans Schikkelstad, nephew of Kristian Mauritz Mustad and cousin of Sigbjørn Mustad. Clarin Mustad married Nathalia Fischer Schneider (1881–1936). In 1912 he bought the property Sjøholmen, between Høvikodden and Sandvika in Bærum. One of their daughters Elma Anne Lise became a horse rider, and married a man of the Kielland family. His daughter Clara married Jacob Moestue, in a wedding attended by Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Märtha of Norway. Brunstad Christian Church
Brunstad Christian Church (BCC) is a worldwide evangelical non-denominational Christian church. Established in Norway early in the 20th century. It is represented by more than 220 churches in 54 countries. An overview of members per country shows a total of 20,000 members in 2016. As many as two thirds of its members live outside Norway. For many years the group did not have a formal name and was referred to as ''Smith's Friends'', particularly in Norway. History Johan Oscar Smith (1871–1943), the church's founder, was originally a member of the Methodist church. After a religious conversion in 1898 Smith began preaching to small gatherings.
