Carl Georg Brunius
Carl Georg Brunius (23 March 1793 – 12 November 1869) was a classical scholar, art historian, archaeologist and architect. He served as a professor and rector at Lund University. During 1833-59, he led the restoration work of Lund Cathedral. Biography Brunius was born at Tanum parish in Tanum Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. He was the son of the vicar Gomer Brunius and his wife Mariana Rodhe. He studied at Lund University, where he became a candidate in philology in 1813, a candidate in philosophy in 1814, a master of philosophy in 1814. He became an associate professor of Greek language at Lund University in 1815 and extra regular assistant professor in 1816, assistant professor in 1820. He became professor of Greek in 1824 filling the vacancy created when Esaias Tegnér (1782–1846) became Bishop of the Diocese of Växjö. Ulrika "Ulla" Sofia De Geer, née ''Sprengtporten'' (20 August 1793 – 22 September 1869 in Stockholm), was a politically influential Swedish countess and salon holder. She was married to the politician count Carl De Geer, over whom she is believed to have exerted influence, and was a central figure in the Stockholm high society in the mid-19th century. Life Ulla De Geer was born to Baron Johan Vilhelm Sprengtporten and Sophia Lovisa Mörner af Morlanda and the sister of the politician baron Jakob Wilhelm Sprengtporten. She married the politician count Carl De Geer in 1810. The marriage was arranged and she had been forced to abandon Karl Fredrik Reinhold von Essen, with whom she was truly in love. This caused a depression which attracted attention: after the death of von Essen in 1820, she publicly dressed in mourning as if she were a widow. Sophie Bolander
''Sophie'' Christina Mathilda Bolander (28 January 1807 – 2 June 1869), was a Swedish author. She is most famed for her participation in the contemporary debate on gender issues. Life Sophie Bolander was born in Gothenburg, the daughter of the wealthy factory owner Gustav Erik Bolander (d. 1826) and Johanna Kristina Carlström. She never married. She lost her mother at an early age, and after the death of her father, she lived with her brother. She worked as a governess in the household of count Posse in 1838–1844, and as a music teacher in the ''Kjellbergska flickskolan'' in 1845–1855. Career Her anti-aristocratic novel ''Trolldomstecknet'' (The Magic Sign) has been regarded as one of the first tendency novels in Sweden. Otto Nordenskjöld
Nils Otto Gustaf Nordenskjöld (6 December 1869 – 2 June 1928) was a Finnish and Swedish geologist, geographer, and polar explorer. Early life Nordenskjöld was born in Hässleby in Småland in eastern Sweden, in a Finland Swedish family that included his maternal uncle, the polar explorer Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld, and cousin Gustaf Nordenskiöld. His father and mother were cousins, but his father's family name was "Nordenskjöld", while his mother's family name was spelled "Nordenskiöld". He studied at Uppsala University, obtaining a doctorate in geology in 1894, and later became a lecturer and then associate professor in the university's geology department. Career Otto Nordenskjöld led mineralogical expeditions to Patagonia in the 1890s, and to Alaska and the Klondike area in 1898.
