Bernt Sverdrup Maschmann
Bernt Sverdrup Maschmann (17 October 1805 – 13 May 1869) was a Norwegian priest, politician and pharmacist. Bernt Maschmann was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was a son of pharmacist Hans Henrich Maschmann. He earned his Cand.theol. in 1829. He was the pastor of Vega in Nordland from 1830 and then the vicar at Hobøl in Østfold from 1837 to 1869. In addition, from 1849 he was provost for the Øvre Borgesyssel deanery in the Diocese of Borg. Maschmann was elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1845, representing the constituency of Smaalenenes Amt which corresponds to the current Østfold. In 1856, he acquired the family pharmaceutical business, ''Elefantapoteket i Christiania'', which he operated until 1860. He was married to Antoinette Augusta Aars with whom he had five children. Eistein Kjørn
Eistein Guttormsen Kjørn, a.k.a. Østen Kjørn or Estin Kjørn, (1727–1805) was a Norwegian woodcarver. Kjørn was born at the Old Sandbu farm in Vågå. He was one of the leading woodcarvers in the Gudbrand Valley. He followed in the footsteps of Jakob Klukstad, whom Kjørn observed while working on the decoration for Heidal Church. In addition to woodcarving, Kjørn also wrote poems and psalms in the Vågå dialect, painted religious pictures, and carved soapstone gravestones. Kjørn died in Heidal. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957. is the largest Norwegian biographical encyclopedia. The first edition (NBL1) was issued between 1921 and 1983, including 19 volumes and 5,100 articles. Bernt Anker
Bernt Anker (22 November 1746 – 21 April 1805) was a Norwegian merchant, chamberlain and playwright. He was born in Christiania, the son of Christian Ancher and a brother of Peder Anker and cousin of Carsten Anker. His business included trade in timber on a large scale, with a large income from supplying the fleet of England. He eventually became the wealthiest person in Norway. Among his properties were Frogner Manor and Moss Jernverk. His magnificent home Paléet near Bjørvika was used as a Royal residence after his death, until the completion of the Royal Palace in Christiania.
