Bernt Anker
Bernt Anker (22 November 1746 – 21 April 1805) was a Norwegian merchant, Chamberlain (office), chamberlain and playwright. He was born in Oslo, Christiania, the son of Christian Ancher and a brother of Peder Anker and cousin of Carsten Anker. His business included trade in timber on a large scale, with a large income from supplying the Royal Navy, fleet of England. He eventually became the wealthiest person in Norway. Among his properties were Frogner Manor and Moss Jernverk. His magnificent home Paléet near Bjørvika was used as a Royal residence after his death, until the completion of the Royal Palace, Oslo, Royal Palace in Christiania. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of London in 1782. He was decorated Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog in 1803. A street in Oslo, , is named after him. Carl Frederik Von Breda
Carl Frederik von Breda (16 August 1759 – 1 December 1818) was a Swedish painter who studied in and spent much of his career in Britain before becoming painter to the Swedish court. He was born in Stockholm in 1759, and moved to Britain where he was a student of Joshua Reynolds. Breda specialized in painting portraits and was called "the van Dyck of Sweden". He returned to Sweden 1796 where he became professor at the Academy of Arts, a popular portraitist, and a court painter. Breda married at age 22 and his son, Johan Fredrik, was also a painter, who studied under his father. Breda died in Stockholm in 1818. Breda painted James Watt. Early life Breda's great-grandfather Pieter emigrated to Stockholm around the year 1670 from the Netherlands. The "von Breda" family name seems to indicate a connection with the city of Breda. Carl Just (10 September 1897 – 16 October 1990) was a Norwegian journalist. Early and personal life He was born in Kristiania to the wholesaler Carl Johan Beckman (1871–1931) and his wife Selma Augusta Just (1877–1946). Just grew up in Kristiania with foster parents. He never met his father, but met his mother once in his adult life. He married Margaretha Aximia Lundqvist (1894–1969) in 1919. Career In 1917–19, he worked as a journalist in the Norwegian newspaper ''Dagbladet''. After that, he moved to Bergen, where he became editor-in-chief of '' Folkets Avis''. From 1921 to 1928, he was an editor of the Christian newspaper '' Dagen''. Thereafter, he worked in the news department of the broadcasting corporation in Bergen for two years.
