Carl Fredrik Mennander
Carl Fredrik Mennander (sometimes modernised as ''Karl Fredrik Mennander'', often just ''C.F. Mennander'') (19 July 1712, Stockholm – 22 May 1786) was Bishop of Turku, Finland, from 1757–1775 and then Archbishop of Uppsala in the Church of Sweden from 1775 to his death. He arrived as a student at the University of Uppsala in 1731 and got acquainted with the botanist Carl Linnaeus. In 1735 he travelled to Turku, Finland, and finished his education with a Master of Arts. He stayed in Turku for fifteen years, and made several important improvements there within the school system and hospital facilities. He was ordained priest, and also had a professorship in physics. In 1757 he was consecrated Bishop of Turku. In 1775 he was elected Archbishop of Uppsala by the cathedral chapter and settled in Uppsala. Carl Wilhelm Scheele
Carl Wilhelm Scheele (, ; 9 December 1742 – 21 May 1786) was a Swedish German pharmaceutical chemist. Scheele discovered oxygen (although Joseph Priestley published his findings first), and identified molybdenum, tungsten, barium, hydrogen, and chlorine, among others. Scheele discovered organic acids tartaric, oxalic, uric, lactic, and citric, as well as hydrofluoric, hydrocyanic, and arsenic acids. Eva Ekeblad
Eva Ekeblad (née De la Gardie; 10 July 1724 – 15 May 1786) was a Swedish countess, salon hostess, agronomist, and scientist. She was widely known for discovering a method in 1746 to make alcohol and flour from potatoes, allowing greater use of scarce grains for food production, significantly reducing Sweden's incidence of famine. Anna Sofia Ramström
Anna Sofia Ramström (1738–1786) was a ''kammarfru'' of the Queen of Sweden, Sophie Magdalena of Denmark. She was known for her involvement in the famous affair of the consummation of the marriage between the royal couple. History Anna Sofia Ramström was one of the ''kammarfru'' of queen Sophia Magdalena: the position of kammarfru was roughly equivalent to that of a Lady's maid, and was normally recruited from the wealthy burgher class: her brother-in-law, Erik Ek, was a merchant. In 1775, King Gustav III of Sweden made the decision to consummate his marriage. Through Anna Sofia Ramström, Count Adolf Fredrik Munck af Fulkila contacted Ingrid Maria Wenner, who was assigned to inform the queen of the king's wish, because she was married and the confidant of the queen. Gustaf Lundberg
Gustaf Lundberg (17 August 1695 – 18 March 1786) was a Swedish rococo pastelist and portrait painter. He trained and worked in Paris and later was appointed court portrait painter in Stockholm. Biography Lundberg was born in Stockholm, Sweden, son of royal chef Gustaf Lundberg and his wife Sabina Richter, whose family included successful artists. Orphaned at an early age, he was raised by his grandfather, Fredrik Richter, who was a goldsmith. Lundberg was later apprenticed to German-Swedish painter David von Krafft (1655–1724) in 1712. In 1717, Lundberg traveled to Paris, where he studied with Hyacinthe Rigaud (1659-1743), Nicolas de Largillière (1656-1746) and Jean François de Troy (1679-1752). The determining influence was the Venetian school (art), Venetian painter Rosalba Carriera (1675-1757), who lived in Paris from 1720 to 1721.
