Frederick IV (Danish: ''Frederik''; 11 October 1671 – 12 October 1730) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1699 until his death. Frederick was the son of Christian V of Denmark-Norway and his wife Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel. Early life Frederick was born on 11 October 1671 at Copenhagen Castle as the eldest son of King Christian V and his spouse Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel. The newborn prince was baptized the same evening with the name Frederick by the royal confessional Hans Leth. His grandfather King Frederick III had died a year and a half before he was born, and as the eldest son of the ruling king he was thus crown prince from birth. At the age of 18, he was given a seat on the Council of State as the heir apparent to the throne. Christian VI Of Denmark
Christian VI (30 November 1699 – 6 August 1746) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1730 to 1746. The eldest surviving son of Frederick IV and Louise of Mecklenburg-Güstrow, he is considered one of Denmark-Norway's more anonymous kings, but he was a skilled politician, best known for his authoritarian regime. He was the first king of the Oldenburg dynasty to refrain from entering in any war. During his reign both compulsory confirmation (1736) and a public, nationwide school system (1739) were introduced. His chosen motto was "''Deo et populo''" (for God and the people). Ulrik Adolf Holstein
Ulrik Adolf Holstein, Greve til Holsteinborg (14 April 1664 – 21 August 1737) was a Danish nobleman and statesman. Life He was born in Schleswig-Holstein. His father, Adam Christopher von Holstein (1631-1690) owned Netzeband and Buchholtz in Mecklenburg; his mother was Cathrine Christine Reventlow of Futterkamp (1647-1704). He was the brother of Christian Frederik von Holstein (1678-1747), Ditlev von Holstein (1669-1721) and Henning Christopher von Holstein (1679-1753). In 1679 he became a page to Crown Prince Frederick and found favour, becoming a noble (''freiherr'') in 1700. He was removed from court in 1703 after attempting to dissuade the King from marrying royal mistress Elisabeth Helene von Vieregg (1679–1704). Iver Eriksen Rosenkrantz (5 December 1674 – 13 November 1745) was a Danish statesman and landowner. Education and early career Iver Rosenkrantz was born at Rosenholm Castle (''Rosenholm Slot'') in Hornslet, Denmark. He was the son of Erik Rosenkrantz til Rosenholm (1612–1681) and his third wife Margaret Krabbe til Vemmetofte (1640-1716). His father was a nobleman and statesman who died when Iver was aged 7. Iver's mother hailed from the province of Scania (Skåne) which was ceded to the Swedes in 1658. Iver's maternal grandfather Iver Krabbe was a prominent politician and army man, one-time governor of Norway. Iver Krabbe and his wife (young Iver's grandmother), Karen Marsvin, settled in Denmark after the cession of Scania, but young Iver still had two aunts and an uncle in what was now southern Sweden. Count Adam Gottlob von Moltke (10 November 171025 September 1792) was a Danish courtier, statesman and diplomat, and Favourite of Frederick V of Denmark. Moltke was born at Riesenhof in Mecklenburg. His son, Joachim Godske Moltke, and his grandson, Adam Wilhelm Moltke, later served as Prime Minister of Denmark. Frederick V (Danish and Norwegian: ''Frederik V''; 31 March 1723 – 14 January 1766) was King of Denmark–Norway and Duke of Schleswig-Holstein from 6 August 1746 until his death in 1766. He was the son of Christian VI of Denmark and Sophie Magdalene of Brandenburg-Kulmbach. Although the personal influence of Frederick was limited, his reign was marked by the progress of commerce and trade, and art and science prospered under his reign. Unlike his parents who were deeply devoted to Pietism, Frederick grew into a hedonist. As regent, he took part in the conduct of government by attending council meetings, but he was afflicted by alcoholism and most of his rule was dominated by able ministers who were influenced by the ideas of the Age of Enlightenment. Caroline von Schimmelmann, née ''Tugendreich Friedeborn'' (1730–1795), was a Danish countess. Her parentage is unknown, but she was the foster daughter of Heinrich Ernst von Gersdorfs in Dresden, and given a good education by him. She married Heinrich Carl von Schimmelmann in 1747. Her spouse had an important role within Danish government from 1762, and the couple became central figures within the Danish aristocracy. The masquerade balls hosted by the Schimmelmann couple in their palace in Copenhagen belonged to the foremost centers of Danish society life in the 1760s, and these balls were later blamed to have encouraged queen Caroline Matilda's adultery with Struensee: the couple were also noted to have behaved suspiciously at them.August Fjelstrup: Damerne ved Karoline Mathildes Hof, 1909.
