Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Taipei)
The National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall () is located in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is a memorial to the Republic of China's Father of the Nation, National Father, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and was completed in 1972. The total building area covers in an open space of . It contains displays of Sun's life and the revolution he led, and is also a multi-purpose social, educational and cultural center for the public. Description The main entrance to the hall contains a statue of Sun Yat-sen. Every hour, there is a formal changing of the guards, which is a popular tourist attraction. Hsiao Yeh
Li Yuan (; born 31 October 1951), better known by his pen name Hsiao Yeh (), is a Taiwanese novelist and screenwriter. Early life and education Li's family is of Hakka descent and originates from Wuping County, moving to Taiwan in 1949. Li Yuan was born in Monga, Taipei, on 31 October 1951. His father was a statistician and his mother taught writing at National Taiwan Normal University, later becoming a journalist. Li's father gave his eldest son the pen name Hsiao Yeh, and both parents encouraged him to write. Li read classics such as ''War and Peace'' and ''The Old Man and the Sea'' at the age of 11, at the behest of his father and was forced to write reports on them afterward, though Li preferred to draw cartoons and perform plays instead. After studying biology at NTNU, Li earned a graduate degree in microbiology from the State University of New York at Buffalo in the United States. Richard Li Han-hsiang (; 7 March 1926 in Huludao, Jinxi, Liaoning – 17 December 1996 in Beijing) was a Chinese film director. Li directed more than 70 films in his career beginning in the 1950s and lasting till the 1990s. His ''The Enchanting Shadow'', ''The Magnificent Concubine'', and ''Empress Wu Tse-Tien (1963 film), Empress Wu Tse-Tien'' were entered into the Cannes Film Festival in 1960, 1962, and 1963 respectively. Li also won the Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards for his work on the movie ''Xi Shi'' in 1965. Most of his movies in the 1970s and 1980s were Chinese historical dramas. Chang Yung-hsiang
Chang Yung-hsiang (26 October 1929 – 8 October 2021) was a Taiwanese screenwriter and director originally from Yantai, China, generally considered one of the most prolific and successful screenwriters in Taiwan. Chang adapted a number of Chiung Yao novels for film. He had received six Golden Horse Awards over the course of his career. In 2016, Chang became the first screenwriter to receive the Golden Horse for lifetime achievement. Among Chang's other awards included the 1976 . He died in Los Angeles, California on 8 October 2021. Grace Gua Ah-leh (born 2 June 1944) is a Taiwanese actress and singer. Gua has portrayed over 200 roles in film and television since 1965. She has won the Golden Horse Awards 4 times and the Golden Bell Awards twice. Life and career Also known as Kuei Ya-lei and Grace Gua, Gua Ah Leh was born in China in 1944. She studied acting at the National Taiwan University of Arts. In 1965, she made her professional movie debut in '' The Rain of Sorrow'', and received a Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actress. Terry Hu (; born 21 April 1953) is a Taiwanese actor, writer and translator. Life Early life Hu was born Hu Yinyin in Taichung, Taiwan on April 21, 1953, with her ancestral home in Shenyang, Liaoning, the only child of Qu Shifang (), and Hu Gengnian (), a member of the Legislative Yuan of the Republic of China. Yuen Siu-tien () (27 November 1912 – 8 January 1979) (also known as Yuan Xiaotian, Simon Yuen, Sam Seed or "Ol' Dirty") was a Hong Kong actor and martial artist. in the late 1970s, Yuen is perhaps best known as Beggar So (a.k.a.
