Christian V Of Denmark
Christian V (15 April 1646 25 August 1699) was king of Denmark and Norway from 1670 until his death in 1699. Well-regarded by the common people, he was the first king anointed at Frederiksborg Castle chapel as absolute monarch since the decree that institutionalized the supremacy of the king in Denmark-Norway. Christian fortified the absolutist system against the aristocracy by accelerating his father's practice of allowing both Holstein nobles and Danish and Norwegian commoners into state service. As king, he wanted to show his power as absolute monarch through architecture, and dreamed of a Danish Versailles. He was the first to use the 1671 Throne Chair of Denmark, partly made for this purpose. His motto was: ''Pietate et Justitia'' (With piety and justice). Sankt Annæ Plads
Sankt Annæ Plads (English: St. Ann's Square) is a public square which marks the border between the Nyhavn area and Frederiksstaden neighborhoods of central Copenhagen, Denmark. It is a long narrow rectangle which extends inland from the waterfront, at a point just north of the Royal Danish Playhouse at the base of the Kvæsthus Pier, now known as Ofelia Plads, until it meets Bredgade. A major renovation of the square was completed in 2016.The Garrison Church is located on the south side of the square. Amaliegade, one of the two axes on which Frederiksstaden is centered, extends from the square. The square has a central garden complex along its length with an equestrian statue of Christian X of Denmark facing Bredgade. Sorø Academy (Danish, ''Sorø Akademi'') is a boarding school and gymnasium located in the small town of Sorø, Denmark. It traces its history back to the 12th century when Bishop Absalon founded a monastery at the site, which was confiscated by the Crown after the Reformation, and ever since, on and off, it has served as an educational institution, in a variety of forms, including as a knight academy founded by Christian IV and a venue for higher learning during the Danish Golden Age. Danish writer and academian Ludvig Holberg bequested most of his fortune to re-establishing the academy in 1750 after a devastating fire. Ole (Olaus) Judichær (20 March 1661 29 September 1729) was a Danish shipbuilder and admiral in the Royal Danish Navy. Early life Ole (or Olaus) Judichær was born on 20 March 1661 in Gotland,Bjerg in Gyldendal although this date may have been 20 February 1661Project RuneberVol 8 pp 554 - 556/ref> where his father was the parish priest in the very south of the island. At the age of seventeen he departed for Copenhagen where, in 1683 and 1684, he studied theology. Later he studied mathematics under the scientist Ole Rømer, who recommended Judichær to Niels Juel and to Admiral Henrik Span. Orlogsværftet
''Orlogsværftet'' () was a Danish naval shipyard under the Royal Danish Navy. Before 1924, it was an integral part of the naval base at Holmen Naval Base, Holmen in central Copenhagen, Denmark, with an independent management from 1692 when Olaus Judichær became the first factory director. In 1924, the shipyard was established as a regular company under the Naval Ministry, responsible for building and maintaining naval ships and aircraft. Orlogsværftet delivered its last newly built vessel in 1970, the submarine Nordkaperen, and continued as a repair yard until 1995, when the navy was moved out of Copenhagen to Korsør and Frederikshavn. Maersk-owned Odense Steel Shipyard replaced Orlogsværftet as the navy's primary shipyard. Holmen, Copenhagen
() is a water-bound neighbourhood in Copenhagen, Denmark, occupying the former grounds of the Royal Naval Base and Dockyards. In spite of its name, deceptively in singular, Holmen is a congregation of small islands, forming a north-eastern extension of Christianshavn between Zealand and the northern tip of Amager. Holmen was created by a series of land reclamations to house the Holmen Naval Base after it was moved from Gammelholm and used to occupy the entire area, but activities have gradually been moved elsewhere. Since the early 1990s, the area has instead been redeveloped for other use as a new district of the city, while the remaining naval facilities are confined to the northernmost islet of Nyholm. The area is today characterized by a mixture of residential developments, creative businesses and educational institutions and remaining military activities. Marie Madeleine De Montaigu
Marie Madeleine de Montaigu (née Le Croix) (1692–1736) was a Danish actor. She was employed first as a court-actor, and later became one of the first female actors to perform on a Public theatre in Denmark. Biography Marie le Croix was born in Denmark as the child of parents of French origin. In 1715, she married Rene Magnon de Montaigu (1661–1737), the director of La troupe du Roi de Danemark, the French troupe that performed for the royal court, and the year after, she became a member of the trope and employed as court-actor. In 1721, the French troupe, which had performed for the royal court in Copenhagen since 1682, fired by the king, who wished to hire an Italian Opera-trope instead. The French actors, who in many cases had lived there for generations, did not all wish to leave Denmark.
