Ole Borch
Ole Borch (7 April 1626 – 13 October 1690) (latinized to ''Olaus Borrichius'' or ''Olaus Borrichus'') was a Danish scientist, physician, grammarian, and poet. He was royal physician to both Kings Frederick III of Denmark and Christian V of Denmark. He was the founder of Borchs Kollegium and is noted for being the influential instructor of scientist Nicolas Steno. Biography Borch was born at Nørre Bork in the Diocese of Ribe, Denmark. He was the son of Oluf Clausen and Margrethe Lauridsdatter. His father was a parish priest, He studied medicine at the University of Copenhagen. He became a lector at Vor Frue Skole in 1650. He distinguished himself in the plague of 1654, when a third of Copenhagen's population died. In 1655 he was patronized by Joachim Gersdorff, the royal seneschal. Bendix Grodtschilling, also Bendix Grodtschilling the Elder, (c. 1620 – March 1690) was a Danish painter and carpenter. Early life Grodtschilling was born in Holstein (probably in Itzehoe), where he worked in his capacity as a skilled carpenter. Charlotte Helene von Schindel (1690–1752) was a Danish noble, a lady in waiting and a royal mistress of King Frederick IV of Denmark. Early life Charlotte Helene von Schindel was born as daughter of Wiglas von Schindel and his wife, Anna Helen von Horn. Her family were once ruling Dukes of Bernstadt and belonged to German nobility, originally from Silesia. She became the lady in waiting of Elisabeth Helene von Vieregg, the morganatic spouse by bigamy of King Frederik IV. Frederick IV's mistress After the death of Vieregg in 1704, Schindel became Frederick's lover and was given the title Countess of Frederiksholm, which was an acknowledgement of her status as an official royal mistress. Christian Falster
Christian Falster (January 1, 1690 – October 24, 1752) was a Danish poet and philologist, born at Branderslev (island of Laaland). He became rector of the school at Ribe. He preferred to live there, refusing to accept better positions, and keeping his rectorship. He published translations of Ovid (1719) and the Satires of Juvenal (1731); 11 original satires on his times, often reprinted (1720–39); and in Latin a number of works, such as ''Viglia Prima Noctium Ripensiun'' (1721); ''Memoriœ Obscurœ (1722); Amœnitates Philologicœ'' (three volumes, 1821–32).
