Jørgen Iversen Dyppel
Jørgen Iversen Dyppel (February 25, 1638 – 1683), also called George Iversen or Ifversen, or sometimes Doppel in Knox, was the first governor of the renewed establishment of St. Thomas in the Danish West Indies, from 1672 to 1680. His rule was marked by the work to construct a functioning colony and the difficulties of such a task. Biography Early life Dyppel was born in Helsingør, Denmark-Norway as the son of a baker from Holstein or SønderjyllandBricka, Biografisk, 332 and Else Pedersdatter. The name Dyppel comes from Dybbøl in Southern Jutland. After Dyppel's education, he went to the West Indies as an indentured servant.Krarup, Personalhistorisk, 24 Krarup presumes he went with Carib. Brita Scheel
Birgitte "Brita" Scheel (1638–1699), was a Danish noblewoman who married a Danish nobleman who became Swedish with the annexation of Denmark's eastern provinces. For that reason, Birgitte belongs both to Danish and Swedish history, and her family lives on in the now Swedish province of Scania (Skåne). Biography Birgitte Scheel (Skeel) was the daughter of the Danish chancellor Christen Albretsen Scheel (1603–59) and Birgitte Rud (1612–45). She married the vice president of the High Court of Western Sweden Göta Hovrätt, the Scanian nobleman Christian Barnekow (1626–66) in 1660, the Danish chancellor count Christoffer Parsberg (1632–71) in 1669 and then the powerful Scanian nobleman and Danish Chancellor of the Realm Knud Thott (1639–1702) in 1682. Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve
Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve, Count of Laurvig (20 July 1638 – 17 April 1704) was Governor-general of Norway (''Stattholdere i Norge'') from 1664–1699. He was the leading general in Norway during the Scanian War, whose Norwegian leg is conventionally named the Gyldenløve War after him. Early life Gyldenløve was born in Bremen, Germany, the illegitimate son of Prince Frederick, later King Frederick III of Denmark, who was at the time Prince-Archbishop of Bremen and coadjutor of the Bishopric of Halberstadt. His mother was Margrethe Pape, (1620–1684) who was made Baronesse of Løvendal by King Christian IV on September 15 that same year. When his father became King of Denmark-Norway in 1648, Ulrik Frederik assumed the surname Gyldenløve which was used by illegitimate sons of Danish kings.
