15 Field Ambulance
15 (Edmonton) Field Ambulance (15 (Edm) Fd Amb) is a Canadian Forces Primary Reserve medical unit headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, with a detachment in Calgary (15 (Edmonton) Field Ambulance Detachment Calgary). The unit mission is to attract, train, force generate and retain high-quality health service personnel to provide health service support to 41 Canadian Brigade Group and to augment CF domestic and international operations. An additional and important activity is to participate in activities that will raise its profile in Edmonton and Calgary. The Canadian Forces Health Services Group (CF H Svcs Gp) is a formation of the Canadian Forces within the Military Personnel Command. It includes personnel from both the Royal Canadian Medical Service and the Royal Canadian Dental Corps, fulfills all military health system functions from education and clinical services to research and public health, and is composed of health professionals from over 40 occupations and specialties in over 120 units and detachments across Canada and abroad. Hitler Line
The Hitler Line was a German defensive line in central Italy during the Second World War. The strong points of the line were at Piedmonte, Pontecorvo and Aquino. In May 1944, the line was renamed the Senger Line, after General von Senger und Etterlin, one of the generals commanding Axis forces in the area. This was done at Hitler's insistence, in order to minimize any propaganda significance should the line be penetrated. The line was a so-called " switch line", joining the Gustav Line at Monte Cairo and providing a fall-back position behind the Gustav Line. The line was breached on 24 May 1944 on the British Eighth Army's front by the 1st Canadian Infantry Division and 5th Canadian Armoured Division, attacking with II Polish Corps on their right. Zhari ( ps, ژړۍ, fa, ولسوالی ژری) is a district in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Alternative spellings include Zheley (due to transliteration from Pashto), Zharey, Zharay, Zheri, or Zheray. The district was created in 2004 from land that was formerly part of Maywand and Panjwai districts. The population is estimated at 80,700 (2010). Geography Zhari lies on the north bank of the Arghandab River, which runs east to west through Kandahar Province. The general area is sometimes referred to as the Arghandab Valley. The built-up and farmed area of Zhari is approximately 30 km east to west by 8 km north to south, between the river and Highway 1. Most buildings are single-story mud structures, with narrow, winding roads and walkways. Colonel Angus Munn, CD QHP (June 16, 1938 – May 3, 2003) was a Canadian soldier and doctor. Biography Early life Munn was born in Montreal, Quebec, to Daniel James McArthur and Margaret B. A. Moodie. The family lived in the eastern townships of Quebec until Angus turned seven and then moved to Alberta, where he attended Strathcona School. Later he spent two years at Central High School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It was while attending Central High school that he met Barbara Hovey, his future wife. At the age of sixteen, Munn lied about his age to the Canadian Army and joined the Black Watch regiment in 1955. Eleven years passed with this regiment, during which Munn served two tours in Germany beginning in March 1962 and ending in June 1965. After serving with the Black Watch he successfully remastered to third field squadron in 1966 to 1968, where he served as one of the first combat divers.
