Cormac na Haoine MacCarthy Reagh, 13th Prince of Carbery (1490–1567) was an Irish chieftain who owned almost half a million acres in south west Ireland. Birth and origins Cormac was born in Carbery (barony), Carbery about 1490, the eldest son of Donal MacCarthy Reagh and his second wife Eleanor FitzGerald. His father was the 12th Prince of Carbery. Eochaidh Ó hÉoghusa (1567–1617) was a well-known Irish bardic poet. Life A native of Ulster, born probably in (Ballyhoo), in what is now County Fermanagh, Ó hÉoghusa was employed for much of his life by the Mág Uidhir (Maguire) chiefs of Fermanagh. Among his most well-known works are several poems included in the Leabhar Branach, a literary compendium of mostly Gaelic poets of Leinster, dedicated to the O'Byrne chiefs of Wicklow who "by their success in maintaining the independence and integrity of their mountainous territory against great odds until the final collapse, they were in a position to attract poets of repute from distant parts of Ireland." Sir Paul Gore, 1st Baronet
Sir Paul Gore, 1st Baronet (1567 – September 1629) was an Anglo-Irish politician, soldier and baronet. Born in London, he was the eldest son of Gerard Gore and his wife Helen Davenant, daughter of Ralph Davenant. Gore had come to Ireland as a commander of a troop of horse and in 1602, he was despatched to accompany Rory Ó Donnell, 1st Earl of Tyrconnell, Rory Ó Donnell to a meeting with Queen Elizabeth I of England. He sat as Member of Parliament (MP) in the Irish House of Commons for Ballyshannon (Parliament of Ireland constituency), Ballyshannon from 1613 until 1615. On 2 February 1622, he was created a baronet, of Magherabegg, in the County Donegal. He married Isabella Wycliffe, daughter of Francis Wycliffe and niece of the Thomas Wentworth, 1st Earl of Strafford, 1st Earl of Strafford. They had thirteen children, seven daughters and six sons. Tiobóid Na Long Bourke, 1st Viscount Mayo
Tibbot na Long Bourke, 1st Viscount Mayo (anglicised as Theobald Bourke; ; ; 1567 – 18 June 1629) was an Irish peer and parliamentarian. A prominent member of the MacWilliam Burkes of County Mayo, Tibbot was a Member of the Irish House of Commons and was later created the first Viscount Mayo. His successful life followed, and usefully illustrates, the difficult transition for Irish aristocrats from the traditional Gaelic world during the Tudor conquest of Ireland. Bourke's name had varying spellings such as "Teabóid" or "Tepóitt" in medieval Irish. Tibbot derived from ''Thibault'', the French for Theobald; and "na Long" meant "of the ships", as he was born on a ship. This was usually rendered in Tudor English as: Tibbott or Tibbot na Long. MacWilliam lordships Tibbot's Irish ancestors started with William de Burgh who was granted the overlordship of Connacht in 1215 by John Lackland.
