IFEMA Palacio Municipal
The IFEMA Palacio Municipal, formerly known as Palacio Municipal de Congresos, is a convention centre in Madrid, Spain. It is located near the IFEMA's main fairground complex in the Campo de las Naciones area. It is operated by IFEMA since 2019. History It is located in the Corralejos neighborhood, Barajas district. Designed by Ricardo Bofill, building works lasted from March 1991 to May 1993. The building was inaugurated on 19 October 1993. Since 1995, when the Goya Awards moved from the similarly named Palacio de Congresos in the Paseo de la Castellana, the venue has hosted several editions of the awards' ceremonies. On 15 December 1995, the venue hosted the EU summit that ratified the creation of the "euro" currency. It has also hosted other international events such as IMF and World Bank meetings as well as NATO and UN summits. Francisco Javier Jiménez Algora (7 December 1948 – 30 March 2016) was a Spanish actor. He has appeared in more than 100 films and television shows between 1972 and 2012. ''Torrente, the Dumb Arm of the Law'' ( es, Torrente, el brazo tonto de la ley, links=no) is a 1998 Spanish dark comedy film written and directed by Santiago Segura, who stars as José Luis Torrente, a racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, and fascist former police agent. Characterized by its deliberately thick, cartoonish humor, it proved to be a massive box office hit, and Torrente became part of Spanish contemporary popular culture. Ignacio Fernández Sánchez (7 May 1922 – 24 November 2012) better known as Tony Leblanc was a Spanish actor, director, and comedian. Biography Tony Leblanc was born on the grounds of the Museo del Prado at Madrid, where his family lived because of his father's employment as the museum's janitor. In his teens he was fond of boxing, becoming champion of the lightweight Castilla "amateur", while participating in amateur theatre. He was also a soccer player in the Third Division of Real Club Deportivo Carabanchel in which he scored 23 goals, making him the top scorer of the Third Division. Leblanc made his professional acting debut in 1944 with Celia Gámez's company. Lovers of the Arctic Circle ( es, Los amantes del círculo polar), also known as ''The Lovers from the North Pole'', is a 1998 Spanish romantic drama film written and directed by Julio Médem and starring Najwa Nimri and Fele Martínez. It won two Goya Awards in 1999. The film tells the story of Otto and Ana (whose names are palindromes), from their chance meeting outside school at the age of 8, until they meet again in their 20s in Lapland within the Arctic Circle, under the midnight sun. The themes developed in the film form an important part of Julio Medem's universe, and can be found in his other movies; these include love, death, destiny, nature, the circle of life and the coincidences in life. Antonio Fernández Resines (born 7 August 1954) professionally known as Antonio Resines, is a Spanish film and television actor known for his performance in comedy films and series. Biography He was born 'by accident' on 7 August 1954 in Torrelavega, as his parents spent their Summer holidays there, but he was raised in Madrid, son of José Ramón Fernández Quevedo, lawyer, and Amalia Resines Ruiz de Rebolledo, who died on 10 July 2011.
