134th Ohio General Assembly
The One Hundred Thirty-Fourth Ohio General Assembly is the current meeting of the Ohio state legislature, composed of the Ohio State Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives. It convened in Columbus, Ohio on January 4, 2021 and is scheduled to adjourn December 31, 2022. The apportionment of legislative districts is based on the 2010 United States Census and 2011 redistricting plan. The Ohio Republican Party retained the majority in both the Ohio Senate and Ohio House of Representatives. Jay Hottinger
Jay Hottinger (born December 1, 1969) is a Republican member of the Ohio Senate for the 31st district. A longtime member of the Ohio General Assembly, Hottinger has served in both the Ohio House of Representatives and the Senate since 1995. His current district includes Coshocton, New Lexington, New Philadelphia, and Newark. Hottinger serves as the President pro tempore of the Ohio Senate. The Ohio Republican Party is the Ohio affiliate of the Republican Party. It was founded in Columbus, Ohio, in 1854. History After the Civil War, Ohio politics was dominated by the Republican Party, and Ohio Republicans also played key roles in the national party. As the national Republican Party changed from a party affiliated with Northern states into a staunchly conservative party, so did the Ohio Republican Party. Don Jones (Ohio Politician)
Donald Jones (born June 5, 1973) is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 95th district since January 2019. Jones's district includes all of Carroll, Harrison, and Noble counties and portions of Belmont and Washington counties. Prior to elected office, Jones served as an agricultural education teacher at Harrison Central High School. He also serves as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. Former State Representative Andy Thompson's term expired at the end of 2018. Bill Seitz
William J. Seitz III (born October 29, 1954) is the state representative for the 30th District of the Ohio House of Representatives. He is a Republican. The district consists of Cheviot, Delhi Township, Green as well as portions of Cincinnati, in Hamilton County. Formerly, Seitz represented the same seat from 2001 to 2007. Timothy E. Ginter (born May 25, 1955) is an American politician serving as the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Ohio House of Representatives. He has served in the House of Representatives since 2015, representing District 5. Ginter is an ordained minister, and has also worked in various other occupations. Nickie J. Antonio (born June 2, 1955) is an American politician from Ohio. Cecil L. Thomas (born October 21, 1952) is an American politician and former law enforcement officer who served as a member of the Ohio Senate from the 9th district. Early life and education Thomas was born in rural northern Alabama and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio at a young age. He graduated from Withrow High School. Kenny Yuko
Kenny Yuko (born August 1, 1950) is an American politician and union activist, currently serving as a member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 25th District. Previously, he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 7th District from 2005 to 2012. Yuko was a political and union activist for more than two decades.
