11th Florida Infantry
The 11th Florida Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment from Florida that served in the Confederate States Army from 1864 to 1865. The 11th Infantry Regiment was organized in June 1864 by consolidating part of the 2nd and the 4th Florida Infantry Battalions. Many of the men serving in the regiment were recruited in Hendry County, Florida, Hendry, Jackson County, Florida, Jackson, and Bradford County, Florida, Bradford counties. The 11th Infantry was placed in the Florida Brigade alongside the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Florida Infantry Regiments under command of Joseph Finegan, General Finegan. In the last year of war the Florida Brigade fought at Cold Harbor in June 1864 and Petersburg during the winter. The Florida Brigade retreated with the Army of Northern Virginia and surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865.
