105th Meridian West
The meridian 105° west of Greenwich is a line of longitude that extends from the North Pole across the Arctic Ocean, North America, the Pacific Ocean, the Southern Ocean, and Antarctica to the South Pole. The 105th meridian west forms a great circle with the 75th meridian east. It serves as the reference meridian for the seventh time zone west of Greenwich, known as UTC-07 or the Mountain Time Zone in North America. In the United States, Interstate Highway I-25 roughly parallels the meridian from Douglas, Wyoming to Las Vegas, New Mexico, and from Wellington, Colorado to the Prospect Road interchange (in Fort Collins, Colorado), I-25 happens to be almost exactly aligned along the 105th meridian west. Prime Meridian (Greenwich)
The historic prime meridian or Greenwich meridian is a geographical reference line that passes through the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, in London, England. The modern IERS Reference Meridian widely used today is based on the Greenwich meridian, but differs slightly from it. This prime meridian (at the time, one of many) was first established by Sir George Airy in 1851, and by 1884, over two-thirds of all ships and tonnage used it as the reference meridian on their charts and maps. Interstate 25 (I-25) is a major Interstate Highway in the western United States. It is primarily a north–south highway, serving as the main route through New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. I-25 stretches from I-10 at Las Cruces, New Mexico (approximately north of El Paso, Texas) to I-90 in Buffalo, Wyoming (approximately south of the Montana–Wyoming border). Byam Martin Island
Byam Martin Island (''BEI-uhm'') is one of the Canadian arctic islands located on the northern side of the Viscount Melville Sound in the territory of Nunavut. It is separated from the eastern coast of Melville Island, to the west, by the Byam Martin Channel; and from Bathurst Island, to the northeast, by the Austin Channel. Lougheed Island
Lougheed Island is one of the uninhabited members of the Queen Elizabeth Islands of the Arctic Archipelago in the Qikiqtaaluk Region, Nunavut. It measures in size. It is relatively isolated compared to other Canadian Arctic islands, and is located in the Arctic Ocean, halfway between Ellef Ringnes Island to the northeast and Melville Island to the southwest. It is part of the Findlay Group. History The first known sighting of the island was in 1916 by Vilhjalmur Stefansson, during his Canadian Arctic Expedition. Ellef Ringnes Island is one of the Sverdrup Islands in the Qikiqtaaluk Region, Nunavut, Canada. A member of the Queen Elizabeth Islands and Arctic Archipelago, it is located in the Arctic Ocean, east of Borden Island, and west of Amund Ringnes Island.
