The Faroe Islands Premier League kvinnur (also known as ''Betri Deildin kvinnur'' for sponsorship reasons) is the top level women's football league of the Faroe Islands. It was called 1. deild kvinnur until 2018, when the Faroese top tier in the women's football for the first time was named after a sponsor. The new name was Betri Deildin kvinnur and is a deal for five years, from 2018 until the end of the 2022 season. It is organized by the Faroe Islands Football Association and it was first played in 1985. The winners qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League. Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands ( ), or simply the Faroes ( fo, Føroyar ; da, Færøerne ), are a North Atlantic island group and an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. Runavík
Runavík is a comparatively urbanised village in Runavík Municipality, Faroe Islands. It lies on the south half of the isle of Eysturoy. Port Founded in 1916, Runavík has an important port, originally used predominantly by fishing boats but now also a key supply base for the North Sea oil industry as well as a trans-shipment port for freight to and from Europe. The harbour underwent development in the late 1990s and can now accommodate cruise ships. Eysturoyartunnilin A massive infrastructure project has been mounted to build an 11 km-long sub-sea tunnel between Runavík and Tórshavn, thereby significantly reducing travel times to the capital. Klaksvík
Klaksvík is the second largest town of the Faroe Islands behind Tórshavn. The town is located on Borðoy, which is one of the northernmost islands (the Norðoyar). It is the administrative centre of Klaksvík municipality. History The first settlement at Klaksvík dates back to Viking times, but it was not until the 20th century that the district merged to form a large, modern Faroese town that became a cultural and commercial centre for the Northern Isles and the Faroe Islands as a whole. Klaksvík is located between two inlets lying back to back. It has an important harbour with fishing industry and a modern fishing fleet. Originally, four farms were located where Klaksvík is now. Norðragøta
Norðragøta, also just referred to as Gøta is a village on Eysturoy, Faroe Islands. Overview The municipality of Gøta (''Gøtu kommuna'') was a municipality until 1 January 2009 when it merged with Leirvík into Eysturkommuna. Gøta consists also of the villages Gøtueiði, Gøtugjógv and Syðrugøta. The village lies on Eysturoy's east coast at the bottom of the inlet Gøtuvík. There is a museum called ''Gøtu Fornminnisavn'' with the famous house ''Blásastova''. The wooden church in the centre of the village is from 1833. Streymnes
Streymnes ( da, Strømnæs) is a village on the eastern coast of the Faroese island of Streymoy in Sunda Municipality. The 2015 population was 270. Its postal code is FO 435. It is near the site of a former Norwegian whaling station active from 1893 to 1927. Streymnes is the northern half of a twin-village situated on both sides of the valley. The villages are divided by the river Stórá. The southern half which is approximately the same size is called Hvalvík. Together the two villages have a population of more than 400 inhabitants. Gundadalur
Gundadalur is the name of an area in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. It is home to three different football pitches and other sports facilities. The largest one is the national stadium Tórsvøllur, a multi-use stadium. Overview The actual Gundadalur Stadium is located just alongside Tórsvøllur. It was opened in 1911. There are two sports halls in the same area. Høllin á Hálsi is the oldest one; built in 1970, it is located just above Tórsvøllur. The sports hall has been owned by Tórshavn Municipality since 2004. Gundadalshøllin is the other sports hall, lying below and south of Høllin á Hálsi. Both sports halls are mainly used for handball and volleyball, but also for other public events, not related to sports. NSÍ Runavík (women)
NSÍ Runavík is a Faroese football club, playing in Runavík on the island of Eysturoy. It was founded 24 March 1957. In 2003 NSÍ participated for the first time on a European stage. In 2007, the club won the Faroe Islands Premier League for the first time. The club has won the Faroe Islands Cup in 1986, 2002 and 2017. Aside from these instances, NSÍ Runavík featured in the 1980, 1985, 1988, 2004 and 2015 tournament finals. The club plays in yellow and black. Their stadium (Við Løkin) has a capacity of 2,000. It is not approved by UEFA for international play, so Runavík play their UEFA Europa League matches at Tórsvøllur in Tórshavn or Svangaskarð in Toftir.
