Silvestras Žukauskas
Silvestras Žukauskas ( pl, Sylwester Żukowski, russian: Сильвестр Константинович Жуковский, translit=Silvester Konstantinovich Zhukovsky; 31 December 1860 – 26 November 1937) was a Lithuanian General. He first served in the Imperial Russian Army, where he distinguished himself during World War I, rising to the rank of major general and ending the war as divisional commander. Later he joined the Lithuanian Army and was its Chief Commander three times: May–September 1919, February–June 1920, and June 1923 to January 1928. Žukauskas joined the Imperial Russian Army in 1881, studying at the Vilnius Military School from 1883 to 1887, reaching the rank of polkovnik in 1913. When World War I started, he commanded the new 314th Novooskolsk Infantry Regiment, fighting at its head in present-day Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia. Lithuania Men's National Basketball Team
The Lithuania men's national basketball team ( lt, Lietuvos nacionalinė vyrų krepšinio rinktinė) represents Lithuania in international basketball competitions. They are controlled by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Lithuania. Despite Lithuania's small size, with a population of less than 3 million, the country's devotion to basketball has made them a traditional force of the sport in Europe. The Lithuanian national team won the last EuroBasket tournaments prior to World War II, in 1937 and 1939. Eurelijus Žukauskas
Eurelijus Žukauskas (, born August 22, 1973) is a retired Lithuanian professional basketball player. At a height of 2.18 m (7'2") tall, and a weight of 118 kg (260 lbs.), he played at the center position. Professional career In the 1995 NBA Draft, Žukauskas was selected with the #54 draft pick by the Seattle SuperSonics, in the second round of the draft. On June 28, 1995, the Milwaukee Bucks acquired his rights from Seattle. In 2007, he signed a one-year contract with the Lithuanian club Žalgiris Kaunas, which he later renewed for another year. He retired from playing professional basketball on May 20, 2009. National team career Žukauskas played with the senior Lithuanian national basketball team, from 1995 to 2004. Post-playing career Žukauskas currently plays recreational basketball in his hometown of Klaipėda, and he also acts as a judge at the Lithuanian League (LKL) Slam Dunk Contest. Antanas Žukauskas
Antanas Vienuolis (born Antanas Žukauskas; 7 April 1882 — 17 August 1957) was a Soviet and Lithuanian writer, dramatist and one of the most famous realism (arts), realistic prosaists. Biography Vienuolis was born on April 7, 1882, in Ažuožeriai, Anykščiai District Municipality, Russian Empire. His parents, Julijonas Žukauskas and Rozalija Baranauskaitė, were peasants. Antanas was the youngest child and the only one son in the family, he had 5 older sisters. Antanas' family was in quite good circumstances and had 25 Hectare, ha of land. In 1894, he moved to Užupiečiai, where he attended Anykščiai school, where all subjects were taught in Russian language, Russian. Žukauskas was an exemplary student at school. In 1895 he moved to Liepāja, where he attended the Liepāja Gymnasium and met famous Lithuanian writer Jonas Biliūnas. Vienuolis died on August 17, 1957, from acute thrombosis of the coronary arteries. He was buried in the yard near his house.
