Żabbar St. Patrick Football Club is a Malta, Maltese football (soccer), football club from the town of Żabbar, which currently plays in the Maltese Challenge League. The club was founded in 1912. They also play in the annual Maltese FA Trophy. History Although a football ground close to the Zabbar Gate already existed in 1903, the first teams in Żabbar were only formed a few years later in the first decade of the century. The Zabbar Gate Football Ground was considered as the home-ground of St. George's of Cospicua where they hosted some of the top army and navy teams that were visiting Malta at the time. It was not until season 1935–36 when a team from Zabbar – Zabbar United – took part in a Malta Football Association competition. Zabbar United placed fifth in the Fourth Division Section A. The Zabbar Ground better known by its nickname Il-Foss is a football ground in Ħaż-Żabbar, Malta. It is the home ground of Maltese football club Zabbar St. Patrick. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza (born 20 November 1981 in Msida, Malta) is a professional footballer who plays for Msida Saint-Joseph as a striker. Playing career Mifsud Triganza began his career with Floriana and was promoted to the first team during the 2000–01 season. He made two appearances early in the season, but did achieve a 50% strike rate, after scoring a goal in a 1–1 draw against Naxxar Lions. The Maltese Third Division (also known as the BOV Third Division due to sponsorship reasons) was the lowest league level in Maltese football until 2020 when it was merged with the Maltese Second Division to create the National Amateur League. History The league was founded in 2000. Until 2011 the division comprised two sections - Section A with eleven teams and Section B with eleven teams. Both sections play two rounds with the winner in each group getting promoted to the Maltese Second Division. The Maltese Challenge League (referred to as the BOV Challenge League for sponsorship reasons) is the second-highest division in Maltese football, behind the Maltese Premier League.
