''Šlágry'' (English title: '' Schlager'') is the third studio album by Czech black metal band Master's Hammer, released in 1995 by a now-defunct subsidiary of Osmose Productions, Kron-H, specialized in more experimental outputs than Osmose itself. Greatly contrasting with the sonority of the band's previous releases, ''Šlágry'' sees them "virtually abandon ngthe operatic black metal of previous releases in favor of modernist electronic music", and "shar ngpublishing credits with Carl Czerny, Otto Katz and Giuseppe Verdi, mixing bits of metal, folk and ''musique concrète'' into a style based on the classical avant-garde", as they put it in the album's liner notes. In fact, "Hlava modernistova" is the only black metal-oriented track of the entire album. Master's Hammer
Master's Hammer are a black metal band from the Czech Republic. The band has remained active with several lineup changes between 1987 and 1995, with a reunion from 2009 to the present. It is considered one of the most representative groups of its kind in the country, in interpreting their songs entirely in Czech. In addition, it is one of the precursors to incorporate symphonic metal elements. To a lesser extent, they have experimented with electronic sounds or avant-garde metal. Mantras (album)
''Mantras'' is the fourth studio album by Czech black metal band Master's Hammer, independently-released on 3 December 2009. It is the band's first album of new material since ''Šlágry'' on 1995, and sees them returning to the black metal style of their first two albums, but blending it with the experimental sound demonstrated on ''Šlágry''. It was released both in CD and vinyl format; the vinyl version contains less tracks. The track "Vrana" is a tribute to painter Martin Vrana, a long-time friend of Master's Hammer's vocalist Franta Štorm. Vrana illustrated the album's cover art. František Štorm
František "Franta" Štorm (born 3 July 1966) is a Czech musician, photographer, typographer, writer, teacher, artist, illustrator and record producer, famous for being the vocalist and a founding member of the black metal band Master's Hammer. Biography Štorm was born in Prague, in what was then Czechoslovakia, on 3 July 1966; he is the son of painter Dana Puchnarová, and grandson of architect and heraldist Břetislav Štorm. From 1981 to 1985 he studied at the Secondary School of Arts in Prague, and later went to the AAAD, where he graduated in 1991 under the guidance of Milan Hegar and Jan Solpera. After serving as Solpera's assistant for some years, from 2003 to 2008 Štorm was the headmaster of the AAAD's Department of Typography. In 1993 Štorm founded his own type foundry, which has, so far, produced more than sixty font families. "Sabre Dance", ''Suserov par''; russian: Танец с саблями, ''Tanets s sablyami'' is a movement in the final act of Aram Khachaturian's ballet '' Gayane'' (1942), where the dancers display their skill with sabres. It is Khachaturian's best known and most recognizable work worldwide. It is notable for its employment of percussion instruments, especially the xylophone. Its middle section is based on an unnamed Armenian folk song. According to Tigran Mansurian, it is a synthesis of an Armenian wedding dance tune from Gyumri tied in a saxophone counterpoint "that seems to come straight from America." ''Jilemnický okultista'' (English title: ''The Jilemnice Occultist'') is the second studio album by Czech black metal band Master's Hammer, self-released on December 1992 and distributed elsewhere by Osmose Productions in the following year. Self-described by the band as "the world's first black metal operetta" and largely inspired by King Diamond's rock operas (an early influence of Master's Hammer alongside another project fronted by their eponymous vocalist, Mercyful Fate), it is their first of two concept albums, the second being ''Vagus Vetus'', released in 2014. On several early Osmose pressings "''Jilemnice''" is misspelt as "''Filemnice''", what would be corrected in later pressings. Despite the track listing being in English, all the lyrics are in Czech. ''Slavonic Chronicles'' is an EP released by Ukrainian black metal band Drudkh on September 20, 2010 (see 2010 in music), on the French label Season of Mist. It was released in two formats: as a 10" LP and as a mini CD. The last one is available only as a part of a deluxe leather book edition of Drudkh's 2010 full-length album, '' Handful of Stars'', strictly limited to 600 copies. ''Slavonic Chronicles'' consists of two cover versions of tracks by Slavic black metal bands: "Tam gdzie gaśnie dzień..." Drudkh
Drudkh is a Ukrainian black metal band. It currently consists of (former member of Hate Forest and Dark Ages), Thurios (former member of Astrofaes), Krechet, and Vlad. All four also belonged to Blood of Kingu until it was disbanded. Their lyrics and artistic themes embrace Slavic mythology and Ukrainian nationalism. Many of the band's lyrics are derived from the works of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Ukrainian poets (Oleksandr Oles, Oleh Olzhych, Maik Yohansen, etc.) and especially Taras Shevchenko. Drudkh have been particularly secretive throughout the course of their career, even for a black metal band, giving no interviews and not releasing the lyrics to several of their albums.
