Šebastovce
Šebastovce ( hu, Zsebes) is a borough (city ward) of Košice, Slovakia. Located in the Košice IV district, it lies at an altitude of roughly above sea level, and borders the boroughs of Barca and Poľov. Šebastovce has a mostly rural character, with a population of over 700 inhabitants. Along with Poľov and Šaca, it is the southernmost of Košice's 22 boroughs, and the southernmost of the Košice IV boroughs. History The village of Šebastovce first appeared in written records in 1248. Košice, the second largest city of Slovakia and largest city of east Slovakia, is divided into four national administrative districts ( sk, okres): Košice I, I, Košice II, II, Košice III, III, Košice IV, IV, and into 22 boroughs ( sk, mestské časti; literally: city parts, also translated as (city) districts or wards). These boroughs vary in size and population, from the smallest Džungľa and least populated Lorinčík to the largest Košice-Sever and most populated Košice-Západ. Šaca
Šaca ( hu, Saca) is a borough (city ward) of Košice, Slovakia. Located in the Košice II district, at an altitude of roughly above sea level, it is home to several important hospitals and medical facilities, as well as Košice's steel works and other heavy industry. One of Šaca's localities is Bužinka, which includes some of the borough's older historical architecture. History The first written record about Šaca dates back to 1275. Since 1427 the landowners of Šaca were the Semsey family, who built a castle here in the 15th century. It was demolished later in the same century, on the order of the King Matthias Corvinus. Boroughs Of Košice
A borough is an administrative division in various English-speaking countries. In principle, the term ''borough'' designates a self-governing walled town, although in practice, official use of the term varies widely. History In the Middle Ages, boroughs were settlements in England that were granted some self-government; burghs were the Scottish equivalent. In medieval England, boroughs were also entitled to elect members of parliament. The use of the word ''borough'' probably derives from the burghal system of Alfred the Great. Alfred set up a system of defensive strong points (Burhs); in order to maintain these particular settlements, he granted them a degree of autonomy.
