Šavnik Municipality
Šavnik Municipality is one of the municipalities of Montenegro. The municipality is located in Northern Montenegro. The administrative center is the small town of Šavnik. Geography and location Šavnik is located at the confluence of three rivers — Bukovica (Komarnica), Bukovica, Bijela and Šavnik (river), Šavnik, at an altitude of 840 meters. The municipality is located in the northwestern region of Montenegro, in the Drobnjaci region, named after the local clan of Drobnjaci. The population of the town and municipality of Šavnik has since been in a slow, but steady decline. Most of the residents have been migrating to Nikšić and southern Montenegro, and Šavnik is often a synonym for a poor and deteriorating town. Šavnik is situated on the regional road between Nikšić (45 km) and Žabljak (15 km), and it is its only link to the rest of Montenegro. Durmitor
Durmitor ( Montenegrin: Дурмитор, or ) is a massif located in northwestern Montenegro. It is part of the Dinaric Alps. Its highest peak, Bobotov Kuk, reaches a height of . The massif is limited by the Tara River Canyon on the north, the Piva River Canyon on the west, and by the Komarnica River Canyon on the south. To the east, the Durmitor opens to a high plateau, called ''Jezerska površ'' (Plateau of Lakes). Mount Sinjavina is located to the east of the ''Jezerska površ'' plateau. The Durmitor is for the most part located in the Žabljak municipality. The massif gives its name to the national park that comprises it. Žabljak
Žabljak (Cyrillic script, Cyrillic: Жабљак, ) is a small town in Montenegro in the Northern Montenegro, northern region. It has a population of 1,723. Žabljak is the seat of Žabljak Municipality (2011 population: 3,569). The town is in the centre of the Durmitor mountain region and with an altitude of 1,456 metres, it is the highest situated Balkan town. Nikšić (Cyrillic script, Cyrillic: Никшић, ), is the second largest city in Montenegro, with a total population of 32,046 (2023 census) located in the west of the country, in the centre of the spacious Nikšić field at the foot of Trebjesa Hill. Drobnjaci ( sr-Cyrl, Дробњаци, ) was a tribe and historical region, Drobnjak, in Old Herzegovina in Montenegro (municipalities from Nikšić to Šavnik, Žabljak and Pljevlja). Its unofficial centre is in Šavnik. The Serb Orthodox families have St. George ('' Đurđevdan'') as their patron saint ('' slava'') and the majority of churches in Drobnjak are dedicated to St. George as well.
