Őszibarack
Őszibarack is a popular Polish Electronic music, electronic/pop band, founded in 2003 in Wrocław. The band name means ''peach'' in Hungarian language, Hungarian. The band has performed on major festivals, such as Open'er Festival (2005, 2008 and 2013), Off Festival (2006), Męskie Granie (2013) and Waves Vienna (2012). In 2012, the band received a nomination to Fryderyk award in the category "Album of the Year – Club Music" for the record ''40 Surfers Waiting for the Waves'. History Őszibarack was founded in Wrocław by composer and producer Agim Dżeljilji, bassist Tomasz Dogiel, vocalist Patrycja Hefczyńska and drummer Marcin Drewnik. The band's songs "SKIRTS UP!" was used in a commercial of T-Mobile (Poland)#Heyah, Heyah, Polish cellular telecommunications provider. Męskie Granie
Męskie Granie (English: ''Masculine Playing'') is a concert tour, initiated by Żywiec Brewery. It is organized each year in the summer in major Polish cities, with the addition of the town Żywiec. The first edition was held in 2010. The aim of the tour is to present the creative side of Polish music scene and to encourage the audience to listen to musical experiments, such as jazz musicians playing with rappers. Major Polish artists participate in the tour. Editions Męskie Granie 2010 Six concerts were organized: in Gdańsk (17 July 2010), Katowice (24 July 2010), Poznań (31 July 2010), Kraków (7 August 2010), Wrocław (14 August 2010) and Warsaw (21 August 2010). Additionally, a special concert in the town Żywiec was organized on 24 September 2010, it was attended by 10,000 people. The concerts were attended by 30,000 people. The Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (; ZPAV) is the trade organization that represents the interests of the music industry in Poland, and the Polish chapter of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). Theremin
The theremin (; originally known as the ætherphone, etherphone, thereminophone or termenvox/thereminvox) is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the performer (who is known as a thereminist). It is named after its inventor, Leon Theremin, who patented the device in 1928. The instrument's controlling section usually consists of two metal antennas which function not as radio antennas but rather as position sensors. Each antenna forms one half of a capacitor with each of the thereminist's hands as the other half of the capacitor. These antennas capacitively sense the relative position of the hands and control oscillators for frequency with one hand, and amplitude (volume) with the other. The electric signals from the theremin are amplified and sent to a loudspeaker. The sound of the instrument is often associated with eerie situations. Fryderyk
The Fryderyk is the annual award in Polish music. Its name refers to the original Polish spelling variant of Polish composer Frédéric Chopin's first name. Its status in the Polish public can be compared to the US Grammy and British BRIT Award. Officially created in 1994 and presented for the first time in 1995, the award was initially conferred by the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (''Związek Producentów Audio-Video'', ZPAV). Since 1999, nominees and winners have been selected by a body called Phonographic Academy (''Akademia Fonograficzna'') which by now consists of nearly 1000 artists, journalists and music industry professionals. Off Festival
OFF Festival is an alternative music festival series held annually since 2006. Until 2009 it was held at Słupna Park in Mysłowice, Poland in August and lasts four days. OFF Festival from 2010 takes place in Katowice in Dolina Trzech Stawow. The organizer and creative director of this festival is Artur Rojek, former leader of the bands Myslovitz and Lenny Valentino. In addition to the music, the OFF Festival also support a variety of independent arts and culture events, like exhibitions, workshops and movie screenings.
