Þóra Kristín Jónsdóttir
Þóra Kristín Jónsdóttir (born 30 March 1997) is an Icelandic basketball player who plays the point guard position for Haukar in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna and the Icelandic national basketball team. She won the Icelandic championship with Haukar in 2018 while also being named to the Úrvalsdeild Domestic All-First Team and finishing third in the selection of the Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year. She won the Danish championship ind 2022 and 2023 and the Danish Cup in 2022 with AKS Falcon. Career Þóra came up through the junior programs of Haukar and played her first senior game in 2012. On 22 February 2014 she won the Icelandic Basketball Cup after Haukar defeated Snæfell in the Cup finals. Achilles Tendon Rupture
Achilles tendon rupture is when the Achilles tendon, at the back of the ankle, breaks. Symptoms include the sudden onset of sharp pain in the heel. A snapping sound may be heard as the tendon breaks and walking becomes difficult. Rupture typically occurs as a result of a sudden bending up of the foot when the calf muscle is engaged, direct trauma, or long-standing tendonitis. Other risk factors include the use of fluoroquinolones, a significant change in exercise, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, or corticosteroid use. Diagnosis is typically based on symptoms and examination and supported by medical imaging. Prevention may include stretching before activity and gradual progression of exercise intensity. The Grindavík women's basketball team, commonly known as Grindavík or UMFG for short, is the women's basketball department of Ungmennafélag Grindavíkur multi-sport club, based in the town of Grindavík in Iceland. Hildur Björg Kjartansdóttir (born 18 November 1994) is an Icelandic professional basketball player who plays for Valur in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna and the Icelandic national basketball team. She was named the Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018. Career After coming up the junior ranks of Snæfell, Hildur played her first game for the senior team during the 2009-10 Úrvalsdeild kvenna season. Helena Sverrisdóttir (born 11 March 1988) is an Icelandic former basketball player. Generally considered the greatest Icelandic female basketball player of all time, she was named the Icelandic Basketball Player of the Year, Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year 12 times. The Breiðablik women's basketball team, commonly known as Breiðablik, is the women's basketball department of the Breiðablik multi-sport club. It is based in Kópavogur, Iceland. As of 2018–2019 season its plays in the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna. The Valur women's basketball team, commonly known as Valur, is a basketball team based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is part of the Valur multi-sport club. In 2019, it won its first national championship. Recent history Valur played in the 2018 Úrvalsdeild finals, losing to Haukar 2-3.
