Øyvind Torvund
Øyvind Torvund (born 1976 in Porsgrunn) is a Norwegian composer. He studied composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music (Oslo) with Bjørn Kruse and Ivar Frounbergand, as well as at Berlin University of the Arts, Universität der Künste (Berlin) with Friedrich Goldmann. Equally important is his background as a guitarist in rock and improvising groups. He has ongoing relationship with groups such as asamisimasa (Norway), Oslo Sinfonietta and Plus-minus ensemble, Plus-Minus ensemble (UK), as well as the video artist Yorgos Sapountzis. Torvund has been a composer in residence for Oslo Sinfonietta, written pieces for ensemble Ascolta, Ensemble Zwischentöne, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Plus Minus ensemble and Yarn/Wire. Free Jazz
Free jazz is an experimental approach to jazz improvisation that developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s when musicians attempted to change or break down jazz conventions, such as regular tempos, tones, and chord changes. Håkon Thelin (born 1976 in Oslo) is a Norwegian double bass player and composer. Thelin holds a master's degree (with a study on percussion techniques on the double bass in modern music, 2003) from the Norwegian Academy of Music. From 2007-2011, he worked as an artistic research fellow at the Norwegian Academy of Music with the project ''A new world of sounds - advancements in contemporary double bass techniques.'' Arne Nordheim
Arne Nordheim (20 June 1931 – 5 June 2010) was a Norwegian composer. Nordheim received numerous awards for his compositions, and from 1982 lived in the Norwegian government's honorary residence, Grotten, next to the Royal Palace in Oslo. He was elected an honorary member of the International Society for Contemporary Music in 1997. On 18 August 2006, Arne Nordheim received a doctor honoris causa degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He died at the age of 78 and was given a state funeral. The International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) is a music organization that promotes contemporary classical music.
