Østerbro Stadium
Østerbro Stadium is a combined football and athletics stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the home of the football clubs Boldklubben af 1893 and BK Skjold and it is also the home stadium of the athletics clubs Københavns Idræts Forening and Sparta. It has a capacity of approximately 4,400. The stadium is currently being renovated, to meet the demands from the Danish Football Association. Sparta Atletik is a Danish track and field club, and one of the leading clubs in Denmark. The club is known for winning the major part of the individual medals at the Danish championships, and having the most athletes represented on the different national teams. 2009 World Outgames
The 2009 World Outgames, the 2nd World Outgames, a sporting and cultural event hosted by the gay community, was hosted by Copenhagen, Denmark from July 25 to August 2, 2009. It was one of the largest international sports and cultural events ever held in Denmark, with 8,000 people from around the world expected to participate. The World Outgames addressed itself primarily, but not exclusively, to the LGBT community. The aim was that, once it was underway, the event would be perceived as relevant and welcoming for all inhabitants of Copenhagen. Københavns Idræts Forening (abbreviated Københavns IF, KIF) is a Danish athletics club based in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen. The club is based at the Østerbro Stadium and the indoor Club Danmark Hallen in Valby. The club was founded in 1892 as ''Københavns Fodsports-Forening''—the club adopted its current name in 1914—and is Denmark's oldest athletics club. 37 members of Københavns Idræts Forening have competed at the Olympic Games. Niels Holst-Sørensen, one of the club's athletes, won a gold medal in the 400 metres at the 1946 European Athletics Championships in Oslo. Boldklubben Skjold af 1915 is a Danish football club based in Østerbro, Copenhagen- Founded in 1915, the club has over 1,400 members making it one of Denmark's biggest football clubs in terms of membership. BK Skjold's teams use either Fælledparken or Ryparken for their training sessions. In the 2011–2012 season Skjold played in the Danish 2nd Division West, the third-tier, due to a random draw after the promotions from the 4th tier league Danmarksserien resulted in an unbalance in teams playing in the East and West 2nd divisions. 18 teams were to play in the Danish 2nd Division East while only 14 teams were to play in the Danish 2nd Division West.
