Øregård Gymnasium
Øregård Gymnasium is an upper secondary school in the Hellerup district of Gentofte Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The Neoclassical main building from 1924 is listed. History Øregård Gymnasium was founded in 1903 by V. Plockross under navnet Plockross' Skole. The building was located at Duntzfelts Allé 8. It received its current name when Gentofte Municipality took over the school in 1919. The current main building on Gersonsvej was inaugurated in 1924. It was designed by G. B. Hagen og Edvard Thomsen. Gehrdt Bornebusch undertook a renovation of the building in 1977–80. The building was listed in 1995. Principals * 1903-1910: V. ''Gymnasium'' (and variations of the word) is a term in various European languages for a secondary school that prepares students for higher education at a university. It is comparable to the US English term '' preparatory high school''. Before the 20th century, the gymnasium system was a widespread feature of educational systems throughout many European countries. The Jaeger Corps also known as the Huntsmen Corps ( da, Jægerkorpset) is an elite special operations force of the Danish Defence part of Special Operations Command, formerly of the Royal Danish Army, based at Aalborg Air Base. History The Jaeger Corps traces its origins to 1785 when the corps was first formed as the " Jaeger Corps of Zealand". Facing emerging threats from Sweden, Prussia, and Great Britain, Denmark created a light infantry force from hunters and woodsmen. Thomas Rathsack is a lecturer and former member of the Danish Jaeger Corps. He served with the Royal Life Guards as a sergeant before getting accepted into the Jaeger Corps in 1990. After retiring from the army he worked as a photographer and IT specialist. He reenlisted after the September 11 attacks. Gentofte Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark (''Region Hovedstaden'') on the east coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark.
