Oscar or Oskar is a masculine given name of Irish origin. Etymology The name is derived from two elements in Irish: the first, ''os'', means "deer"; the second element, ''car'', means "loving" or "friend", thus "deer-loving one" or "friend of deer". The name is borne by a character in Irish mythology—Oscar, grandson of Fionn Mac Cumhaill, and refers to his descent from his grandmother, Sadhbh, who was enchanted into the form of a deer. The name was popularised in the 18th century by Scottish poet James Macpherson, creator of 'Ossianic poetry'. The 2002–03 Sporting de Gijón season was the fifth consecutive season of the club in Segunda División after its last relegation from La Liga. Overview On 7 October 2002, Pepe Acebal was sacked as manager, after earning only two points in the first five games. Antonio Maceda replaced him and, despite not winning any game until the round 11, he managed the team until the end of the season. On 7 March 2003, due to the incidents during the match against Numancia at El Molinón, the Spanish Committee of Sporting Discipline agreed the closure of the stadium for one game. Óscar Rubén Fernández Romero (born 28 September 1974) is a Spanish football manager, currently in charge of UD Almería B. Coaching career Born in Torrefiel, Valencia, Fernández graduated from the University of Valencia and started his career at Tavernes Blanques CF before moving to CF Torre Levante's youth categories. In 2005, he was appointed manager of Burjassot CF in Tercera División. Fernández moved to Valencia CF in 2006, being named manager of the ''Juvenil'' squad. In July of the following year, he was appointed at the helm of the reserves in the fourth division, and on 29 October 2007, after Quique Sánchez Flores was sacked from the main squad, he was appointed interim. Football career Born in Renedo de Piélagos, Cantabria, Óscar graduated from local CA Perines. The Sun Red SR21 is a Spanish-made sportscar which competed in the International GT Open between 2007 and 2009. Racing history 2007 The design for the Sun Red SR21 was based on the Hispano-Suiza HS21 concept car. The SR21 was built under FIA GT2 specifications, although it was never an homologated as such due to it not being a production GT car. Manufacturer Sunred Engineering entered the car in the 2007 International GT Open season. The car was driven the full season by Juan Ramon Zapata and was joined by different guest drivers each race weekend. Zapata achieved 2 podium finishes in 12 races. Zapata was placed 14th in the final standings. 2008 Óscar Fernández and José-Manuel Perez-Aicart drove the full-time entry in the 2008 International GT Open season.
