Étienne Michelin
Étienne Michelin (4 January 1898 - 27 August 1932) was a French industrialist. As the eldest son of Édouard Michelin (1859-1940), there was a strong likelihood that he would take over at as head of the Michelin tyre company, where he worked as a member of the top management team. His early death ruled out this possibility, however. Life Étienne Maurice Michelin was born at Clermont-Ferrand in central southern France. He was born nine years after the founding in the city, by his uncle and father, of the family tyre manufacturing business. In 1921 he married Madeleine Callies (1898-1936), the daughter of an industrialist from Savoy. The Michelin family at this time were known for their active advocacy of aviation. Édouard Michelin (industrialist)
Édouard Michelin (23 June 185925 August 1940) was a French industrialist. He was born in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Édouard and his elder brother André Michelin, André served as co-directors of the Michelin company. Edouard seemed destined for a career as an artist, but around 1888 he and his brother Andre returned to Clermont-Ferrand in order to try to save the failing family business, then a manufacturer of agricultural tools, drive belts and hoses. In 1889, he improved greatly on the design of the pneumatic tyre for bicycles, making tyres easier to change and repair. The invention proved its worth in the Paris–Brest–Paris, Paris–Brest cycle event organized by the newspaper ''Le Petit Journal (newspaper), Le Petit Journal'' in September 1891, and Michelin quickly adapted his inflatable tyres for use on motor vehicles, of which France was becoming the world's leading producer. Michelin (; ; full name: ) is a French multinational tyre manufacturing company based in Clermont-Ferrand in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes ''région'' of France. Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport (french: Aéroport de Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne) is an airport serving the French city of Clermont-Ferrand. It is located east of the city, in Aulnat, both '' communes'' of the Puy-de-Dôme department in the Auvergne region of France, in the middle of France. It is the main airport of the Auvergne region, the others are Aurillac airport and Le-Puy-en-Velay airport. Aéroplanes Morane-Saulnier was a French aircraft manufacturing company formed in October 1911 by Raymond Saulnier (aircraft manufacturer), Raymond Saulnier (1881–1964) and the Robert and Léon Morane, Morane brothers, Léon (1885–1918) and Robert (1886–1968). Chaîne Des Puys
The Chaîne des Puys () is a north-south oriented chain of cinder cones, lava domes, and maars in the Massif Central of France. The chain is about 40 km (25 mi) long, and the identified volcanic features, which constitute a volcanic field, include 48 cinder cones, eight lava domes, and 15 maars and explosion craters. Its highest point is the lava dome of Puy de Dôme, located near the middle of the chain, which is high. The name of the range comes from a French term, ''puy'', which refers to a volcanic mountain with a rounded profile. A date of 4040 BCE is usually given for the last eruption of a Chaîne des Puys volcano. An outstanding example of plate tectonics in action and continental rifting, the Chaîne des Puys region became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018. Puy De Dôme
Puy de Dôme (, ; oc, label=Auvergnat, Puèi Domat or ) is a lava dome and one of the youngest volcanoes in the region of Massif Central in central France. This chain of volcanoes including numerous cinder cones, lava domes and maars is far from the edge of any tectonic plate. Puy de Dôme was created by a Peléan eruption, some 10,700 years ago. Annecy ( , ; frp, Èneci or ) is the prefecture and largest city of the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France.
