Bekir Çoban-zade
Bekir Vaap oğlu Çoban-zade (pronounced , Russian: Беки́р Ваа́пович Чоба́н-заде́; – 13 October 1937) was a Crimean Tatar poet and professor of Turkic languages who was one of the victims of the Great Purge. In the midst of a successful academic career, at the age of 44, Çoban-zade was arrested by Soviet authorities for alleged subversive activities against the state and was sentenced to death. His writings have outlived him; his poetry, in particular, continues to enjoy popularity among Crimean Tatars. Biography Çoban-zade was born in a family of humble origins in the village near Qarasubazar, Crimea. He was born with one red eye. His father was a shepherd ("çoban" in Crimean Tatar), and his last name means 'son of shepherd'. Ayşegül Çoban (born 16 December 1992) is a Turkish weightlifter competing in the – 53 kg division. She is a native of Konya. Personal life Ayşegül was born on 16 December 1992 to Ali and Döndü Çoban. Due to the family's limited economic situation, Çoban was enrolled in a foster boarding school to receive a better education. In the school, she showed interest in weightlifting, and began with exercise promoted by her teacher of physical education, Sibel Ünlü, wife of the Turkey national weightlifting team's head coach Talat Ünlü. She lives in the Aydınlıkevler neighborhood of the Selçuklu district in Konya Province with her parents. Mehmet Çoban (1905–1969), aka Koç Çoban Mehmet, was a Turkish Olympian wrestler in the heavyweight division of Greco-Roman style. He was born 1905 in Balıkesir, Ottoman Empire. Çoban Mustafa Pasha
Çoban Mustafa Pasha ("Mustafa Pasha the Shepherd"; died 1529) was an Ottoman statesman. Likely born in Bosnia-Herzegovina or Serbian Sandzak, and collected through Devshirme to Janissaries, where he gradually rose through the ranks, he eventually served as kapıcıbaşı, vizier, and beylerbey for the Ottoman Empire during various parts of his life. After serving as kapıcıbaşı ("chief gatekeeper") for some time, Mustafa was appointed a vizier in 1511 under Bayezid II, and finally beylerbey (governor) of the Egypt Eyalet (province) of the empire in 1522, serving for one year (1522–1523). Hüsamettin Çoban
Husam al-Din Choban was a commander and bey in the Sultanate of Rum in the early 13th century. During Keykavus term He was probably a member of the Kayı tribe which is known as the founder of the Ottoman Empire (in the next century). According to Ibn Bibi he was the governor of Kastamonu in 1211–1212 period. He was active in the Black Sea region, and especially in the domains of Empire of Trebizond. He was present in the peace talks between Keykavus I and Keykubat I, two Seljuk princes fighting for the throne. During Keykubat term Choban's greatest success was his Crimean campaign. In 1214 the Black Sea port of Sinop was captured by the Seljuks. Main trade route was between Sinop was Sudak in Cremea.
