Ã…mot Idrettsforening is a Norwegian multisports club located in Ã…mot. It has sections for boxing, handball, football and cross-country skiing. The football team being the most prominent, it played in the Second Division as late as 2007, but for the next season its first team merged with others to become Modum FK. Hence, Ã…mot's second team in the Fourth Division emerged as its new first team. In the 2008 season Ã…mot was runner up in Fourth Division and was promoted to Third Division. Ã…mot was relegated in 2009. Norwegian Second Division
The Norwegian Second Division, also called 2. divisjon and often referred to as PostNord-ligaen for sponsorship reasons, is the third-highest level of the Norwegian football league system. There are 28 teams divided into two groups, and at the end of the season the winner of each group earns promotion to the second-highest division, 1. divisjon. The teams finishing in second place in their respective group will qualify for the promotion play-offs, where they will face each other. The winner will play against the 14th placed team in 1. divisjon for promotion. The 2007 2. divisjon was the third highest football league for men in Norway. 26 games were played in 4 groups, with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. Nybergsund, Hødd, Sandnes Ulf and Alta were promoted to the First Division. Number twelve, thirteen and fourteen were relegated to the 3. divisjon. Modum FK
Modum Fotballklubb is a Norwegian football club from Modum, founded in 2007 as a merger between the first teams of Ã…mot IF, IL Moingen, Vikersund IF, Haugfoss IF, Bingen BK and Geithus IL. The merger plans had been ongoing for some time. It entered the league system for the 2008 season, taking the place of Ã…mot IF in the Second Division. Ã…mot started anew in the Fourth Division. Norwegian Third Division
The Norwegian Third Division, also called 3. divisjon, is the fourth highest division of the men's football league in Norway. Like the rest of the Norwegian football league system, the season runs from spring to autumn, running approximately from April to October. After the 2010 season, the league was reorganised, reducing the number of teams to 164 and halving the number of parallel sections from 24 to 12.
