Åhlinska skolan (Åhlin School), or Åhlinska flickskolan (Åhlin Girls' School), was a girls' school in Stockholm, Sweden. Active from 1847 to 1939, it was one of the first schools in Sweden that offered serious academic education to female students. History The school was founded by Karin Åhlin in 1847. It was managed as a private girls' school, initially with only Åhlin and her sisters as teachers, and expanded from 14 students in 1847 to 45 in 1857, changing localities and expanding its activity as the number of students grew. Eventually, it also included a co-educational primary education school. In 1891, it became a gymnasium for females, and in 1894, it was given the right to administer the ''studentexamen'' for its students. It belonged to the first four girls' schools with this right, after Wallinska skolan in 1874, ''Ateneum för flickor'' (The Atheneum for Girls), and ''Lyceum för flickor'' (The Lyceum for Girls) in 1882. Karin Boye
Karin Maria Boye (; 26 October 1900 – 24 April 1941) was a Swedish poet and novelist. In Sweden she is acclaimed as a poet, but internationally she is best known for the dystopian science fiction novel '' Kallocain'' (1940). Career Boye was born in Gothenburg (Göteborg), Sweden and moved with her family to Stockholm in 1909. In Stockholm, she studied at the ''Åhlinska skolan'' until 1920. She studied at Uppsala University from 1921 to 1926 and debuted in 1922 with a collection of poems, "Clouds" (Swedish: ). During her time in Uppsala and until 1930, Boye was a member of the Swedish Clarté League, a socialist group that was strongly antifascist. She was also a member of the women's organization Nya Idun. In 1931, Boye, together with Erik Mesterton and Josef Riwkin, founded the poetry magazine ''Spektrum'', introducing T. S. Eliot and the Surrealists to Swedish readers. Wallinska skolan (Wallin School) or Wallinska flickskolan (Wallin Girls' School), was a girls' school in Stockholm, Sweden. Active from 1831 to 1939, it was one of the first five schools in Sweden to offer serious academic education and secondary education to female students. Studentexamen
Studentexamen (Swedish for "students' examination" or "students' degree"), earlier also ''mogenhetsexamen'' ("maturity examination") was the name of the university entrance examination in Sweden from the 17th century to 1968. From 1862 to 1968, it was taken as a final written and oral exam on graduation from gymnasium (secondary school). In Finland the examination (Finnish: ''Ylioppilastutkinto'') still exists (Finland parted from Sweden 1809).
