ﾃ］gel Alberto Felipe (born August 30, 1997) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher in the Los Angeles Angels organization. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics. He made his MLB debut in 2023. Professional career Tampa Bay Rays Felipe signed with the Tampa Bay Rays as an international free agent on June 15, 2015. He spent his first two professional seasons with the Dominican Summer League Rays, accumulating a 5.35 ERA across 20 total appearances. Felipe spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons with the rookie窶斗evel Gulf Coast League Rays. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In baseball, a save (abbreviated SV or S) is credited to a pitcher who finishes a game for the winning team under certain prescribed circumstances. Most commonly a pitcher earns a save by entering in the ninth inning of a game in which his team is winning by three or fewer runs and finishing the game by pitching one inning without losing the lead. The number of saves or percentage of save opportunities successfully converted are oft-cited statistics of relief pitchers, particularly those in the closer role. Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, colloquially known as Tommy John surgery (TJS), is a surgical graft procedure where the ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with either a tendon from elsewhere in the patient's body, or with one from a deceased donor. The procedure is common among collegiate and professional athletes in several sports, particularly in baseball. Designated for assignment (DFA) is a contractual term used in Major League Baseball (MLB). A player who is designated for assignment is immediately removed from the team's 40-man roster, after which the team must within seven days, return the player to the 40-man roster, place the player on waivers, trade the player, release the player, or outright the player from the 40-man roster into Minor League Baseball.
