Álvaro Beltrán (born October 15, 1978), is a Mexican professional racquetball player. Beltrán is the currenInternational Racquetball Federation(IRF) World Champion in Men's Doubles with Daniel De La Rosa, winning the title in 2022 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He was the second man to win both Men's Singles and Men's Doubles at the Racquetball World Championships. His six world titles (1 singles & 5 doubles) tie him for 3rd most in IRF history. Beltran has been a top 10 player on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) for 18 seasons. 2016 Racquetball World Championships
The International Racquetball Federation's 18th Racquetball World Championships were held in Cali, Colombia from July 15 to 23, 2016. This was the first time Colombia has hosted Worlds, and the first time Worlds have been in South America since 1998, when Cochabamba, Bolivia hosted the event. American Rocky Carson and Mexican Paola Longoria are the incumbent champions in men's and women's singles, respectively. Rocky Carson (born May 21, 1979) is an American professional racquetball player. Carson's a formeInternational Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Champion in Men's Singles – a title he's won a record five times. He has been the season ending #1 player on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) twice, including in 2017–18. Carson has also played outdoor racquetball, and in 2008, he became the first man to win Men's Singles at the World Outdoor Championship, as well as the indoor IRF World Championship, and US Open. Junior Years Carson played multiple sports as a boy, and was good at several: baseball, basketball and tennis. But he had a passion for racquetball. International Racquetball Tour
The International Racquetball Tour (IRT) is the leading professional racquetball organization for men's competition. It was founded in 1991 and is the successor to previous iterations of the tour by different names. Professional Men's racquetball events have been offered since 1973. Events are played mostly in the USA. Mike Grisz became chief executive officer of the IRT in January 2019. He succeeded John Scott, who became chief executive officer in June 2017, when the IRT was taken over by E.J. Promotions Inc. Previously, Jason Mannino, a former pro player, served as IRT President., who succeeded Dave Negrete in 2009. Negrete was Commissioner from 2001 to 2009. Racquetball
Racquetball is a racquet sport and a team sport played with a hollow rubber ball on an indoor or outdoor court. Joseph Sobek invented the modern sport of racquetball in 1950, adding a stringed racquet to paddleball in order to increase velocity and control. Unlike most racquet sports, such as tennis and badminton, there is no net to hit the ball over, and, unlike squash, no tin (out of bounds area at the bottom of front wall) to hit the ball above. Also, the court's walls, floor, and ceiling are legal playing surfaces, with the exception of court-specific designated hinders being out-of-bounds. Racquetball is played between various players on a team who try to bounce the ball with the racquet onto the ground so it hits the wall, so that an opposing team’s player cannot bounce it back to the wall. The racquetball competition at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games was held at the Racquet Complex in Leyes de Reforma Sports Complex in Veracruz, Mexico, from 15 to 24 November. There were individual competitions in men's and women's singles and doubles 15–21 November with men's and women's team competitions on 22–24 November. Mexican players are the incumbent Central American and Caribbean Games champions in all divisions. In 2010, Álvaro Beltrán of Mexico won men's singles, Javier Moreno and Polo Gutierrez of Mexico won men's doubles, Paola Longoria of Mexico won women's singles, and Samantha Salas and Susana Acosta of Mexico won women's doubles. The racquetball (Spanish: ''Ráquetbol'') competition at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia is being held from 20 to 28 July 2018 at the Parque de Racquetas La Castellana. Tournament format The 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games racquetball competition has two parts: an individual competition with four divisions: Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles, as well as a team competition. The individual competitions will be played first beginning with a group stage played as a round robin. The group stage results used to seed teams for the medal round. The individual competition group stages begin July 20 for three days followed by the medal round with the finals on July 25. The team competition will begin July 26 with the finals on July 28. The Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC or CACGs) are a multi-sport regional championship event, held quadrennial (once every four years), typically in the middle (even) year between Summer Olympics. The games are for countries in Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the South American Caribbean countries of Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. The games are overseen by Centro Caribe Sports (''formerly CACSO'').
