s Lands Hospitaal is a hospital in Paramaribo, Suriname. The hospital started as a military hospital when it was established in 1760. In 1934, the hospital was transformed into a general hospital and renamed 's Lands Hospitaal. The hospital has specialized in neonatology and pediatrics. In 2015, an Intensive Care Unit was opened. Sint Vincentius Hospital ( Dutch: ''Sint Vincentiusziekenhuis'') is a hospital in Paramaribo, Suriname. It is Catholic hospital named after Saint Vincentius. History The hospital has its roots in a congregation of Sisters of Love from Tilburg who were deployed to Suriname in 1894. Out of the infirmary they started, the Sint Vincentius Hospital was founded in 1916, originally with a capacity of 70 beds. With the passing of time the hospital became more professional and shifted its focus from charity to professional medical care. The hospital was expanded in 1964, 1976 and 1978. Diakonessenhuis is a hospital in Paramaribo, Suriname. It was founded as the Protestant hospital of Paramaribo. History In 1946 a foundation was set up to start a Diakonessenhuis in Paramaribo, but only when the director of the Diakonessenhuis in Utrecht, dr. M.A. van Melle, took over the initiative in 1955 and contacted the Dutch public broadcaster NCRV did developments grow more seriously. In 1960 a fundraising show was broadcast on television which generated more than 2 million Dutch guilders. Together with a large donation from and a low interest loan of the same amount, there was enough money to build a hospital. In late 1961 construction was started, and the hospital eventually opened on 30 November 1962.
